During the past few years Passive Opcal Networks (PON) has become established and proven in the Telecom Carrier world
with various fibre to the home (FTTH) projects deployed all around the world. Today’s LAN networks take advantage of a simi-
lar approach based on the fast-growing PON architectures to deliver Voice - Data & Video applicaons based on single-mode
fibre to support high bandwidth over long-distances with reduced CAPEX and OPEX.
This presentaon will provide a manufacturer-agnosc view of PON technologies with some strategic approach to the implica-
ons of Layer 1 / Layer 2 design and installaon. An outlook of experse needed to move alongside with technology and keep

Presenng :Wireless Explosion-New threats are evolving Operaons geBng more challenging
Mobile explosion - The world is going wireless - users need to connect to the network wherever they are.
Wireless technologies evolving fast - ext generaon devices (e.g., tablets) only connect wirelessly to the network, Thus without
a WLAN, organizaons can’t cost effecvely adopt these devices into their business processes, they need flexibility in their IT
infrastructure, which has given rise to the BYOD trend, and in turn accelerates the move to wireless-only devices. The emer-
gence of new, faster standards - 802.11n and upcoming 802.11ac even increase pressure will drive mobility to next level.
Along with all technological advance, current and future WLAN’s essenally require an enhanced security with focus on layer 1
& 2. A remote 7x24h WLAN monitoring for pro-acve real me analysis and security enforcement will meet that requirements

Presenng: Migraon to IP
The rise of IP technology has pushed ahead the video surveillance industry. Image quality may be the most obvious improve-
ment: while analogue surveillance cameras capture images in the low-grade PAL or NTSC format, IP paves the way for full-HD
video streams, resulng in a crystal clear view of what is happening out there. But there is much more to IP. An IP network
allows us to transfer video signals from any source in that network to any desnaon we want. That means live footage can be
viewed in the central control room, while a duplicate stream is sent to a remote recorder or to the mobile device of one of the
operators. The advantages of IP technology are very excing indeed. By following a straighMorward migraon path, we can
enjoy the benefits it the IP technology - Flexibility, scalability, a higher level of data security. This presentaon looks at how the
migraon to IP can be done.
