Board of Directors Meeting January 9, 2015 Reston, Virginia PROFESSIONAL DIVISION PRIORITIES The Professional Division national officers established priority areas aligned to the association’s four goals that would allow us to best focus our efforts for the upcoming year. We anticipate these Standing Priority Areas will provide direction to future officer teams. STANDING PRIORITY AREAS National Conference Experience o Conference Experience Committee (CECOM) Membership Resources o Membership & Alumni Resources Committee (MARC) State Chapter Development o State Chapter Development Committee (SCDC) PROGRESS GOAL #1: CUSTOMER SERVICE : To be responsive to the needs of our students, advisers and business customers. 1. 2013-14 Membership Year a. End of Year 2013-14 = 3,444; End of Year 2012-13 = 3,283 b. 5% increase (161 members) from 2012-13 2. Increase PD membership by 5% to 3,600 members a. Members Current Year (1/7/15) = 3,063 (24.7% increase from LY); Last year at this time (1/7/14) = 2,456 b. Sent communication to all graduating PBL seniors who competed in objective test events at the 2014 NLC asking them to join the PD c. Sent communication to all members reminding them to renew d. Continued automatic renewal option for PD membership 3. Enhance and increase communication with PD members, state and national leadership a. Published Professional Edge fall edition; second year as a quarterly publication b. Actively working to get two state chapters to establish officer teams for their PD members (SCDC) 4. Identify, capture and manage necessary information to better retain FBLA-PBL throughout all divisions a. Members can now use their e-mail address as their user name to access their member profile b. Working with National staff to enhance the PD report that is downloadable by state key contacts to include additional information helpful to the state (i.e. PD member indicates they want to be a workshop presenter, judge, etc.) 5. Working with National staff to gather information from all states in anticipation of implementing an anniversary membership year for Professional Division members (anticipate two test states in 2015-16, if successful hope to implement in all states in 2016-17) 6. Created a Recruiting Resources page on the National website where all PD recruiting materials (sample letters, PowerPoint presentations, flyers, etc.) are housed in one location 7. Submitted proposal adding a Professional Division member recruitment requirement for each level of the BAAs and CMAPs and, if approved, will be effective for 2015-16 8. 2015 PD National Officer Elections will be continue to be conducted online using Simply Voting (in 2014 there was a 33% increase in votes cast vs. when we allowed voting by mail only) 9. PROFESSIONAL DIVISION PRIORITIES The Professional Division national officers established priority areas aligned to the association’s four goals that would allow us to best focus our efforts for the upcoming year. GOAL #2: RELATIONSHIPS: To have the most effective partnerships of any career student organization.

1. Raise awareness about PD among other organization levels a. Hosted three PD workshops (Washington, DC, Minneapolis, and New Orleans) at the NFLCs, brought opening

greetings to and facilitated PD recruitment share tables at state officer track workshops, and staffed booths at each NFLC by Professional Division members

b. Produced a PD NFLC Experience Information sheet for each NFLC that outlined important and helpful information for PD members attending the conference

c. Placed a “lifetime association” ad for NFLC programs and in all FBLA-PBL publications d. Planning FBLA and PBL networking sessions and resume review at NLC (CECOM)

2. Enhance members’ experience though membership, benefits and recognition a. Currently planning open competitive events for PD members at the FBLA & PBL NLCs. Will offer at least five

events again this year. (CECOM) b. Networking sessions at NLC, including an awards recognition ceremony for PD Open Events c. Finalizing a proposal for a PD Alumni Hall of Fame recognition program (MARC)

3. Build a foundation for continuity in PD programs and leadership a. Updated the National Officer Guide/Standard Operating Procedure to provide continuity between PD National

Officer teams b. Updated Officer Candidate Guide

GOAL #3: RESOURCES: To focus on obtaining business and corporate sponsorships for our competitive events, membership and scholarship programs.

1. Secure new revenue sources a. National officers are working to identify and recruit one new benefit partner and one new corporate partner b. National officers will make annual giving campaign a priority, with the hopes of sponsoring a competitive event

at the NLC. As of 1/7/15 donations total $100. GOAL #4: IMAGE & AWARENESS: To be the best known career student organization in the country.

iii. LINKEDIN: Search FBLA-PBL Professional Division b. Using integrated communications (print, email, social media) to promote PD activities, including Lifetime

association ads in NFLC guides, FBLA and PBL publications c. Performed a comprehensive review and updated of all of our marketing materials d. The “Professional Division – Get Involved” video was shown at the Opening Session of each NFLC and the link

to the video was sent to all advisers in an Adviser Blast e. Promoting PD in all other FBLA-PBL national, state and local publications f. Added and edited content for FBLA-PBL website to provide more timely information on PD activities and

projects g. Updated FBLA-PBL Wikipedia entry to include PD officer information h. Conducted “Involving the Pros” webinar in December
