The Pioneers will join UCSD, CS Monterey Bay, CS San Bernardino, and Sonoma State at the CCAA Invitational on the weekend. CSUMB was highlighted last week at The Bronco by Kylie Fields with seven goals and Christina Keller’s six.

Despite going 1-4 over the weekend, Colorado State picked up a crucial WWPA win over Cal State Monterey Bay. CSU finished 3-4 in confer-ence action this season. The Rams began the weekend with a 13-8 loss at Cal State East Bay, followed by a 1-3 showing at The Bronco. Two of CSU’s losses came to top-20 teams in No. 8 Hawai’i and No. 17 UC San Diego. The Rams also lost to host Santa Clara after leading for much of the contest. Leading the team was freshman Ariel Arcidiacono and senior Shelby Schaefer. The duo combined for six total hat tricks and 28 of the team’s 39 goals. Four of Arcidiacono’s 15 scores came in the win over Monterey Bay. The freshman has now scored in all 27 games of her young career. She also totaled four as-sists, four steals, two blocks and three ejections drawn. In the win over Monterey Bay, Schaefer also helped the offense by tallying three goals, two helpers, a steal and an ejection drawn. On the defensive end, sophomore Kelcy Barott had nine steals, three blocks and 21 ejections drawn on the weekend.

As for 11th-ranked LMU, they went 2-2 on the week with a pair of setbacks to top-five teams and a sweep of WWPA foes in non-conference action. Laura Lopez led the Lions with seven goals, including four against No. 1 USC, as the Lions continue to rely on balance. Alexandra Honny leds the team with 51 goals and leads the WWPA with 71 steals. Honny has 187 goals and 174 steals in her career, ranking seventh and fifth, respectively, all-time at LMU. She is one of five Lions’ this season to have scored 32 or more goals. Jessica Morelos is second on the team with 39, followed by Mackenzie Beck’s 37, Lopez and Ivana Castro with 32. The Lions continue their tough stretch, traveling to No. 4 UCLA on Friday and then hosting No. 2 Stanford on Sunday.
