If you want to build it, they will come.Since 1981 Rossbach Construction has quietly

built a reputation for quality. They hire peoplewho love their jobs, they use quality materials andthey stand behind their work. Their level of ser-vice is second to none.

Rossbach Constructions owners WillRossbach and Don Hruby conduct businesswith the understanding that above all else, customer satisfaction is always the first priority.Clients hiring them quickly discover a level ofcustomer service rarely seen in either the newconstruction or remodeling fields.

It starts with your first phone call to RossbachConstruction. You talk to a real live person, not amachine. And then staff makes sure to show upon time for appointments.

Youd be amazed at the tales we get horror stories, really regarding such basicconsiderations found lacking in competitors, says Hruby.

Rossbachs clients not only stay happy, butinformed.

Customers are kept in the loop with schedulesdetailing not just our project start dates, but enddates too, Hruby says.

Thats the kind of service that has earnedRossbach a 99 percent satisfaction rating amongthe customers theyve polled. And customerskeep coming back for more.

Falcon Heights City Council Member PamHarris is one of those repeat customers. Sheshired Rossbach Construction to do several

remodels for her.Rossbach is fantastic, says Harris. I couldnt

imagine using any other construction company. There is no comparison.

The 2007 remodel of her home was soextensive, she says, the only thing left was thefront of the fireplace and the floorboards.

Thanks to that remodel, her house wasfeatured in the Remodelers Showcase and can

be seen in the June/July 2008 issue of MidwestHome magazine.

Harris says the Rossbach bid ranked in themedian price range, so with the trust theydalready built up with her, the hiring decision waseasy.

I knew I could count on them, she says. Ive

had them do many things for me, and I feel safethat I can call them if theres anything I need.

Rossbachs owners know paying attention tothe small jobs conveys the expertise they bring totheir major projects. Their handyman services area no-nonsense way to build brand loyalty among

both old and new clients even if the moneyinvolved is minimal.

Take, for example, the Maplewood womanwho tried in vain to find someone willing to fixher doorknob in the height of the building boom.

After more than a dozen calls in vain, shecalled Hruby, who agreed to come out without amoments hesitation.

The payday for Rossbach was minimal, ofcourse. She actually wasnt even charged. But

bringing in money wasnt the point. She was so grateful for the help that when her

son wanted to build a new home, she told him toseek a bid from the Rossbach team. He did, andRossbach Construction built the home.

Thats how a successful company keeps itsreputation. That and the fact that RossbachConstruction stands behind its work, not for theindustry standard of one year, but for five years.

If you need a doorknob replaced, we cando that, says Hruby. If you want a whole newhouse, we can build it for you. Theres nothing wewont do.

Will and Don also volunteer in their communi-ty. Will has partnered with Habitat for Humanityto build sound housing for those in need of ade-

quate shelter and Don participates in a buildersoutreach program which helps our injured warveterans fix up and maintain their homes. WillRossbach is also the Mayor of Maplewood.

It is this type of dedication and the obviouspride that comes with a job well done that thecompany knows will keep customers coming backfor more, in any kind of economy.

Thats because theyve been around enough to

know their sterling reputation for quality not onlykeeps them going in boom times when shoddyfirms proliferate, but also sees them through

economic rough patches when lesser companiesquickly vanish. We cant stress that enough, says Hruby.

A customer needs to know that their contractorwill be around when a projects done, becausea warranty is only as good as the company thatstands behind it.

Rossbach Construction: from handymanservices to the home of your dreams

A family owned business forA family owned business forover 30 yearsover 30 yearsA Tradition of Excellence!A Tradition of Excellence!

Dana Rossbach, housing coor-dinator at Homestead, says resi-dents there and at the adjacentMaplewood Care Center keepher in high spirits, constantlylaughing.

They have a good sense ofhumor here, she says, and theresidents and staff are like fam-ily.

You can feel that when youwalk through here and meet theresidents, Rossbach adds.

Residents at this assisted-liv-ing facility enjoy comfortable liv-ing and activity rooms, and win-dowed alcoves where they canhave coffee, do a puzzle, reador chat. Other amenities includemassage therapy, an aviary, a

beauty parlor, pool table, chapel, library with a computer adaptedfor seniors and beautifully land-scaped grounds where residentscan grow their own gardens.

Residents rent their studio,one- or two-bedroom apartmentsand bring their own furniture, pictures and family mementos tomake it feel like home.

Meals in the dining room areserved restaurant-style, and fam-ilies and friends of the 65 resi-dents are also invited to dine.

Homestead residents are alsoencouraged to get out of theirrooms and be part of the com-munity, Rossbach says. Twofull-time life enrichment coordi-nators set up a monthly sched-ule of activities that include aresidents council, bingo, exerciseclasses and outings to stores andrestaurants. The goal is to helpresidents maintain connectionswith their community and haveas much independence as pos-sible.

    Sense of security

When residents are in theirapartments, they have peaceof mind knowing their unit isequipped with a button if theyneed help. Homestead also offersWellAWARE Systems, a nonin-vasive, smart sensor protectionmodel. Sensors in the roomsand beds collect data on howmany times a door is opened, how restless someone is whensleeping, and theres even a fallimpact sensor to alert nurses thata resident may have fallen.

    Its a really amazing system,

Rossbach says, adding that ithelps the staff come up with careplans for residents and trackprogress.

Homestead also offers asecured third floor for memory-care residents, with special activ-ities such as music therapy. Nextdoor, Maplewood Care Centerprovides skilled nursing care, transitional care and memorycare.

Carl Berg, 83, moved intoHomestead almost seven yearsago with his mother Minnie

Berg, when they both neededmore care. Since his motherspassing, Carl has contin-ued to live at Homestead atMaplewood, and his mother ishonored by a memory gardenin her name. Carl has friendshere, meals are provided, and heenjoys directing morning exer-cise, playing trivia, Skip-Bo andchess on the computer.

When asked why sheenjoys living at Homestead atMaplewood, longtime residentBetty Nielson stated, Not only

is this a place I feel safe and welltaken care of, but it is the firstplace where I can truly be happysince Glen passed away.

Residents and their familiesare invited to the Homestead

each year for a complimen-tary Christmas brunch, anOctoberfest celebration and asilent auction fundraiser for thisnon-profit, faith-based orga-nization run by Volunteers ofAmerica.

I love the VOA and its mis-

sion for people to receive qualitycare and to meet their physical, spiritual and emotional needs, says nurse manager ArdetteFritsche, who has worked at theCare Center since 1979.

We get attached to the resi-

dents and dont want to leavethem, says Mary Ochecki, ahousekeeper at Homestead formore than 30 years.

Rossbach says that familiescontinue to visit even aftertheir resident has moved out orpassed away.

Where can you find a schoolwhere the big kids arentscary to the little ones, but part-ner with them as friends androle models?

Where is there a school smallenough so that not only doesyour childs teacher know her asan individual, but all the teach-ers recognize her and greet her

by name? And where is there a school

that models its principles byincluding all ages in a participa-tory community, where the les-sons arent just on the boardor in books, but acted on all daylong?

In the north metro, theanswer is St. Peter School inNorth St. Paul.

The Catholic pre-kindergar-ten through eighth grade schoolis known as an extroardinarypreparation ground for studentsentering area high schools, nomatter where their talents and

interests lie.Theres a lot of interest edu-cationally in the STEM format, where schools emphasize sci-ence, technology, engineeringand math, Principal CeceliaCrowley explains. We call ourcurriculum STEAM we feelthe A for arts education is avital component and a comple-ment to the other four.

The mathematical precisionyoungsters learn as they prog-ress through the schools stringensemble, choir and band pro-

grams; the critical thinking theypractice in revising papers andrehearsing speeches and theimagination and goal-setting it takes to amass an art port-folio are just a few of the skillsSt. Peter students develop.

Physical education and sportsteams are also still in the mix,

both as outlets for athletic skilland energy and opportunitiesto develp teamwork and leader-ship.

The school is already well-known for its grounding in

math and science. This year, St.Peter science faculty obtained aSTEM grant to have studentsdesign toys that could be usedin space.

Just factoring in the lackof gravity for instance, adropped ball wont bounce is a test of students phys-ics know-how and ingenuity,Crowley says.

Parents also appreciate thesafe environment at St. Peter. Thanks to its buddy program,

where older students mentoryounger ones, theres no suchthing as being afraid of the bigkids, Crowley says. In fact, youll see the youngsters run upto their older buddies and hugthem in the hallway. Its been agreat way to increase youngerones confidence and older stu-dents leadership.

    Teaching the whole student

is the goal each day at St. Peter, and a faculty of Christian edu-cators, most of whom hold mas-ters degrees, are committed tothat goal.

Even the youngest studentsare encouraged to think andact on their faith, with aware-ness and service projects that go

beyond the walls of the school. We believe our faith, our sense

of community and our call toserve should be incorporatedinto all aspects of life, Crowleyexplains. From morning prayerthrough service and outreachprojects, she explains, Childrenlearn to live their faith here.

    St. Peter School: where teaching

the whole student is the goal each day

Where can you sendkids to a school thatoffers solid academ-

ics as well as the untold benefitsof music and art?

Left, kindergarteners and pre-K students especially enjoy lessons crafted to be fun as well as challenging. Right, the St.Peter butterfly garden, which provides study topics from planting to butterfly metamorphosis, won a multi-county land-

    scape and ecology award.
