Fun FactDid You Know?

Okanagan Lake is approximately 110 km long, running north to south through the Okanagan

Valley. Kelowna is located on the eastern shore, boasting over 30 beautiful beaches –

even our main street ends at the lake! To find detailed information to help you

pick your beach, go to page 32.

The W.R. Bennett Bridge opened in May 2008, replacing

the original Okanagan Lake Bridge, built in 1958. It is the only vehicular crossing over Okanagan Lake and the only

floating bridge in Canada.

The Kelowna area boasts 20 courses that range from easy-going to ego-shattering. Discover more at www.golfkelowna.com

Ò Averaging over 2,000 hours of sun every year, Kelowna offers one of the longest, driest golf seasons in Canada. Golf from early spring well into the gorgeous fall season!

Ò Vineyards, orchards, semi-desert terrain, rolling hills and expansive lakes make the golf courses throughout Kelowna some of the most picturesque in the country.

Ò Many clubhouses also offer après golf dining experiences that range from casual to gourmet.

Ò Notable course designer names include Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus, Les Furber, Fred Couples, Graham Cooke and Thomas McBroom.

Ò Most golf courses are in close proximity to one another – easy to play two courses a day.

the lakeOkanagan Lake: hot summer days + refreshing water = endless fun.

Ò Okanagan Lake is 110 km long and curves its way through the Okanagan Valley from north to south.

Ò The graceful W.R. Bennett Bridge connects downtown Kelowna to the west side of the lake and is Canada's only floating bridge.

Ò Kelowna and area has more than 30 beaches – many with playgrounds, picnic areas, concessions and restroom facilities. See page 32 to pick your fun spot.

Ò Enjoy the lake from a stand up paddleboard (SUP), houseboat, ski boat, charter, sailboat, jet ski, pedal boat, kayak or canoe. See page 31 for possibiities.

Ò The lake is welcoming and refreshing, but it also has its mysteries – tombs and hidden coves. Hike the Paul's Tomb trail near Knox Mountain and snorkel in the crystal clear water of the quiet, secluded bays.

winterKelowna is famous for glorious summers and beaches – we’re also known for our winter fun.

Ò Hit the slopes at Big White, Crystal Mountain and Silver Star resorts – all just a short drive from the city.

Ò Go ATVing throughout the snow-covered hillsides surrounding Kelowna.

Ò Click into your cross-country skis and take to our snow blanketed countryside.

Ò Trek through snowy trails on a guided snowshoe hike or snowbike tour.

Ò Some guided tour operators include winter options such as ice-fishing trips and Icewine tours. See page 42 and 43 for the complete list.

Ò Head to Stuart Park in front of City Hall for a fun (and free!) glide around the lakefront ice rink.

Taste the Okanagan's bounty while visiting Kelowna. Remarkable relationships have created the "farm to table" experience – a culinary union of farmers, chefs and you. Here, leading chefs create tasty works of art from fresh local product including meats, cheeses, condiments, fruits, vegetables, wines and more. View pages 57-60 to find local restaurants offering fabulous farm to table selections.

accommodationsWith 4500+ rooms available, Kelowna fulfills every vacation need.

ÒNo matter how opulent our lakeside resorts, kids are always welcome – some even offer fun day camps.

Ò For an intimate getaway, try one of the many bed and breakfasts in the area including those offering downtown convenience, lakefront splendour and countryside serenity.

ÒLooking for affordable, casual accommodation – choose from one of Kelowna's three hostels.

ÒFor something rustic, rent a cabin just beyond the city where you can hike, fish or do nothing at all but get back to nature.

ÒPitch your tent or pull your RV/trailer into one of our campgrounds or provincial parks, but don't forget to book ahead as they fill up quickly.
