Use my over 25 years electrical Utility experience to further the efforts of the past and present Commissione

We need to embrace Norwalk demographics to better serve all students equally. Creating an inclusive climate

To continue and enhance TTD's business model.... Low rates combined with excellent service. To continue the growth of the TTD business model at the new Substation.3. Continue to emphasis efficient use of the district financial resources.3. Contract NegotiationsTransparent accountability measures that holds Board of Ed responsible for results3) Contribute to providing an environment on the BOE that is cooperative, civil, and focused on the betterment of our public schools and its students. By so doing, the BOE will be better able to confront the many different challenges our students face in the classroom and in todays society.3. I am a strong advocate to being fiscally responsible. As a current board member I have supported a budget that was very challenging. WeAccelerate the development of more quality after school enrichment programs3. Ensure that teachers receive an effective level of training, support services, and tools to maximize the use of the new curriculum.

3) Our next City Sheriff can easily function as an unpaid public safety advocate for the people of Norwalk. Adding these duties is not a matter of increasing the Sheriff’s powers or changing the City Charter; it’s simply a decision by the person who wins this election to speak out on issues impacting public safety. As your Councilwoman, I have advocated for traffic safety with parents from Roton Middle School (in pursuit of a Safe Routes to Schools Grant) and with the Coalition for Sensible Development (in opposition to shoehorning BJ’s Superstore onto a small Main Ave site). I spent five years on the Mayor’s Youth Services Advisory Board (including one year on the Greater Norwalk Local Interagency Service Team) tackling issues like gang violence prevention and increasing access to mental health services. I served as one of Norwalk’s representatives to the Board of Directors of the South West Regional Planning Agency for four years. After the horrific school shooting in Newtown, I founded the Norwalk Chapter of Connecticut Against Gun Violence and rallied Norwalkers to participate in CAGV’s March for Change. As a member of Newtown Action Alliance, I have been working to bring NAA’s resources to Norwalk to help our youth learn non-violent methods of conflict resolution; as your next City Sheriff, I would be able to continue these efforts and build upon them.3] ACCURET, PERFORMING THE JOB THAT I HAVE ELECTED TO DO.

Support public safety in our community.3. I will continue to respond to all communications from constituents and will work diligently to address whatever problems or concerns they raise.Be vigilant to decision making that could decrease the value of existing residential properties, and the viability of businesses located throughout the city.Crime3. Address safety concerns with our youth by offering an alternative life choice through guidance and direction to reduce public safety issues.

3. Taxes3. Keeping our streets and schools safe and well maintained. To seek to keep Norwalk's aggressive investment in improving and maintaining Norwalk's infra-structure. This includes roads, bridges, parks, pedestrian ways, and drainage. I will also continue to ensure that our police department has the funding necessary for the hiring of additional police officers.ADVOCATING FOR SEASONED SENIORS

3) Ensuring that single parents, the elderly, college graduates, young professionals, etc. can afford to live in Norwalk.3. Returning the industrial/manufacturing base that has long since vanished from Norwalk.3. My third priority is an extension of the first: we need to attract more businesses to Norwalk to take the pressure off of residential taxpayers. The redevelopment we already have in progress is a good start, but we need to do more. As a father of two children in the Norwalk public school system, I am very concerned with the quality of their education. In recent times, the BOE has struggled with layoffs, salary freezes and budget cuts. For these reasons, I have taken an active role in the educational system. I will aggressively lobby Hartford to increase state funding and work with the BOE to guarantee their budget is sustainable.Ensuring that our schools/BOE have the funds they need so that our students receive a quality education.

3. Continuing to ensure the BOE has sufficient funding to accomplish its mission, but in keeping with 1 and 2.LIVABILITY: Many of our roads and sidewalks are in poor condition and I will work to ensure that they are repaired and renewed efficiently and economically. Neighborhood blight - especially that produced by absentee landlords - endangers our health and standard of living. Enforcing anti-blight laws, especially for commercial properties, will make Norwalk more attractive to residents and businesses

Commissioner 6th Taxing District of the City of NorwalkDiversify our Tax Base--- we need to plan for more office space and fewer box stores to take the tax burden off the residential property owner3. To ensure that the Board of Education has the resources they need so our schools prosper.

3. Ensuring the city handles quality of life issues including providing safe streets for vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians, clean streets free of trash, and paved roads3. I will continue to upgrade our systems to better to serve the public and help the staff work more efficiantly. This will include public input through newsletter or surveys to make sure we are listening to their concerns.

Finally, witnessing first hand with my wife the very many issues students face in school today. Whether that be scholastic, social, or relations with teachers, coaches, staff, and other administrators. Being active parents in the lives of our girls provides us with insight that will benefit me as a member of the BOE.

altogether. The sad thing is that many of the same issues are still around today.2) My multi-cultural life experience provides me with a unique perspective and reach that will provide added-value to the B.O.E., and value in engaging the parents and the community to help Norwalk overcome the educational challenges that exist.I never set out to work with children. Children sort of chose me back in the 1990’s—even before I became a parent—when I worked as a substitute school librarian. They got into my heart to the point I spent a year writing a play about the plight in education as I saw it at the time. That play was read at the New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and produced by the Stamford Center for the Arts. It is very sad that many of the same issues are still around today!Although I would never support CCDL, I am proud that a CCDL member told the press he felt our discussion was inclusive and respectful of all viewpoints. Because of my forum, Dr. Bernstein was invited to testify before the General Assembly Subcommittee on School Safety. He is being considered for a gubernatorial appointment to Connecticut’s Board of Firearms Permit Examiners, a body that currently includes NO mental health professionals. People who do have the power to vote on important issues of public safety got connected to a world-renowned threat assessment expert at my forum; as Norwalk’s next City Sheriff, I could bring more experts and more resources to Norwalk to help our legislators.18 YEARS AND LEAVING

I take bipartisanship very seriously and will not allow partisan maneuvering or political pressure to block or even slow down what's in the best interest of the city. Although I am a registered Democrat, I have always worked closely with Republicans on both the Common Council and the Board of Education and, as a result, this year I was nominated as a Council candidate on the Republican ticket.

I come from a troubled or challenged backgroud. Born and raised in South Norwalk, my father left when I was 10 and left my family on state aid. I have lived in every district of Norwalk except Distric E. Today because of my education and hard work, my family has been able to live the American Dream. That is purchase a home and start up a small business. I have grown up with diversity and understand the complex situations low income folks go through. I have worked hard to get to where I am in life and although I live across town from where I grew up, I do not forget where I came from.

As a council at-large candidate, I offer experience and a renewed passion to serve. I also offer a professional business background, as well as past and current community involvement, to provide the foundation and resources to assist and support my peers. Lastly, I offer the ability to make tough decisions that may not be politically expedient but necessary for the long-term health of the city.Being a Social Worker, I believe there are no limits to human potential, I intend to utillize my education and talents to help create better living conditions for the people.

I follow Common Council and committee agendas closely and I am ready for the elected office I am seeking. With my career experiences and a clear understanding of council duties, I will be prepared on day one. The head start that my opponents did not have.Being on the council is hard work. It's not about showing up for a meeting twice a month. It's about reading the council packet, all of the back-up material and understanding what you will be voting for a the meeting. It's about research, asking questions. Attending assigned committee meetings and again being prepared. I've done the work and I hope to continue to be able to do the work involved in being on the council.

I think my time on the Oak Hills Authority has taught me a lot. I understand how important it is to work collaboratively within your own committees but also with the different departments at City Hall as other groups such as the BET.
