THE VINEYARD The Home Ranch Cuvée is built on a core of clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Home Ranch Vineyard in southwest Sonoma Valley, planted by Sojourn proprietor Craig Haserot in 2002. Tight spacing and immaculate vine training result in evenly ripened grapes with tiny berries and loose clusters. Robust blueberry fruit aromas and big silky tannins distinguish Home Ranch Vineyard wines from most of its Sonoma Valley brethren. WINEMAKER NOTES The 2013 vintage provided idyllic weather conditions, with moderate heat during the core summer months and just enough high heat and dry conditions to ripen the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes at an even pace. Thicker skins and even ripening conditions resulted in balanced, complex wines of depth and nuance. For winemakers, the vintage oered near- perfect conditions to pick the grapes at optimum ripeness. The 2013 vintage delivered only minuscule yields in Home Ranch Vineyard, resulting in a highly concentrated wine with inky color and persistent length. Cabernet Sauvignon from a neighboring vineyard in southern Sonoma Valley was blended in, resulting in a complex cuvée. The wine was aged for 21 months in 50% new French oak barrels from top coopers Darnajou, Taransaud and Bel Air.
