2013 Accomplishments
Sheriff Gordon Smith completes 5th year.
The report that follows is a
“2013 Accomplishment” report and reflects some of the more significant events
of the Sheriff’s Office.
The men and women of the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office continually strive to contribute to each of these accomplishments and should be acknowledged for their professionalism, dedication and loyalty to serving all citizens of Bradford County.

Victims of Crime Act
Funds Victim Advocate Position – VOCA Grant. Advocate made contact with approximately 270 victims in
person, by mail or by telephone. Ninety (90) of those victims were victims of Domestic Violence.
Approximately 350 follow up contacts with victims. Examples of on scene response:

“Bradford County Sheriff's Office would like to inform you that a sex offender who resides in your community has moved to a new address. Lonorris Jackson has moved to 1823 Monroe St., Lawtey, FL 32058. If you have any further questions concerning a predator or any other sex offender living in Bradford County please do not hesitate to contact the Sheriff’s Office.”

Jail staff register, monitor, and verify addresses of 108 registered Sex Offenders living in Bradford County.
21 are Registered Sexual Predators.

all Sexual Predators. Just another tool
to help keep the
community better
informed and safe.
Jail Accomplishments
Passed Florida Model Jail Standards with Passed Medical Inspection. Passed Florida Fire Marshall Inspection.
all inspections it is noted that jail is quiet, well
maintained clean and orderly. Painted jail (last time 2006) Updated video systems for jail
and courthouse.

Inmate Work Crew
Provided work crew to county and municipalities – averaging five inmates per work week for a total of 9000 hours.

Previously during 2012 all calls were handled by 2 on-duty communications officers during the day time and evening shifts. In 2013 a Swing Shift 3rd position was added to off set demanding times and better serve our community. In addition to answering the telephone calls, these same on-duty communications officers are responsible for all radio traffic for the following agencies:

Our Communications Center Personnel stay busy most of their entire shifts. Through extensive training and teamwork, they manage the emergency calls for service from the smallest of incidences to those requiring multi-agency responses.
