Prominent Voice in Evangelical Scholarship Tapped for Bethel Missions WeekendIn keeping with Bethel Church’s history of a vibrant mission's ministry, the Missions Committee is pleased to announce that one of the strongest voices in contemporary evangelical scholarship, Dr. Walter J. Kaiser, Jr, will deliver the keynote speech at Bethel’s Mission Banquet on Saturday evening, February 25. He also will speak at the Sunday services on February 26.
Dr. Kaiser’s use of hermeneutics and expository preaching methods, his knowledge of the whole biblical text, and a God-‐given gift of humor make him a sought after evangelical speaker and Christian author.
Dr Kaiser completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Wheaton College, after which he taught at both Wheaton and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He received his doctorate at Brandeis University. He then joined the faculty of Gordon-‐Cornwell and soon assumed the presidency of Gordon-‐Conwell Seminary. He retired from the presidency of Gordon-‐Conwell in 2006. Currently he is President Emeritus and Distinguished Professor of Old Testament and Ethics at Gordon-‐Conwell.

BOOK RECOMMENDATION
Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die by John Piper
The central issue of Jesus' death is not the cause, but the meaning -‐ God's meaning. That is what this book is about. John Piper has gathered from the New Testament fifty reasons. Not fifty causes, but fifty purposes to answer the most important question that each of us must face: What did God achieve for sinners like us in sending his Son to die?

Bethel Biblical Counseling provides a private and safe place for you to receive care and hope.
The goal of BBC is to bring God glory through application of the authority of God’s Word to hurting people in need of change that produces Christ-likeness. By speaking the truth in love to the genuine life issues, we help people see how the Scriptures address their problems.
To help facilitate this goal, trained lay counselors are committed to a Day of Biblical Counseling every Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Bethel members and the community are invited to take advantage of this sound Biblical resource. Please call the Bethel office for registration details and to schedule an appointment (713.782.8948).
Parents of KindergartnersAll 4/5 year olds will be combined and meet in room 148 each Sunday.
