Próis Hunting Apparel for Women (pronounced “PRO-iss”) is quickly gaining a

foothold in the women’s hunting industry. Launched in 2008, Próis made its mark

by providing female hunters with a long-awaited line of high-performance, technical

huntwear specifically designed for women. The line provides gear that can withstand

the extremes and the rigors of the field, yet is designed expressly to fit the female

form.

Fabric Choices: Próis believes the cornerstone to the best outdoor

gear lies in its fabrics. Simple cotton will not do. Complex, compressed fabrics

offer windstopping, moisture wicking, silence, and waterproofing to the line. Our

Pro-Edition series boasts a three-ply bonded fabric that offers soft tricot on the shell,

windstopping laminate, and microfleece, which offer optimal thermoregulation

without the bulk that is a hindrance in the field. Our Ultra shirts wick away

moisture, which is a must-have feature in both hot and cold climates. Our Eliminator

and Xtreme lines offer hardcore waterproof breathable fabric choices that are

rugged, silent, and functional. Our Sherpa offers plush warmth. All our pants are

100% polyester tricot and offer silence, softness, and a durable snag-resistance.

Próis then adds its signature nylon tricot lining system to all jackets, vests, and lined

pants to offer warmth, softness, and ease of layering/movement. Our Competitor and

Turas lines utilize wrinkle-free wicking fabric.

Functional Features: Each piece of gear is thoroughly

thought out and field-tested by women who hunt hard. Whisper-silent magnetic

closures on cargo pockets enhance silence in the field. Deep-set lumbar

pockets in all jackets and vests offer storage of soft goods and gear. Pleated

knees in our pants optimize articulation. All pants are engineered with

drawstring/cor locking at the hemline to pull the pant close to the boot.

Scapular drop pockets have been developed to lie between the shoulder blades (a

highly vascular area on the body) to house activated hand-warmers, which promote

optimal thermoregulation. Taped seams and nylon tricot lining push our Eliminator

(waterproof/breathable) Line to the front of the pack. Heavy-duty slap pads and

recoil padding make the Competitor line cutting edge.

Commitment to Serious Female Hunters: Próis is designed with the serious female hunter in mind. Each piece is created to

provide the highest level of function to help improve performance in the field. We

are all about the woman who is passionate about her pursuits. We refuse to settle

for downsized men’s gear, upsized children’s gear, or simple clothing that is substan-

dard. We realize women work hard to perfect their craft and they deserve the best.

Welcome to the world of Próis! It is hard to believe Próis is moving into its 5th

year in business and we cannot thank all of you

enough for our continued success! Próis is more

than just a line of clothing… it is a community and a

network, which has virtually exploded over the last

few years. I can safely say that no other women’s

hunting apparel companies tout the virtues

of Cheetos and gnomes while simultaneously

marketing the edgiest, most extreme hunting gear

available for women. (Should you feel confused

by this statement, please join us on Facebook!)

Perhaps it’s an art form… perhaps it’s insanity. You

be the judge.

We are proud to run the company with

integrity and believe that a handshake is still a

binding contract. We believe a person is only as

good as his/her word. We believe that a sense of

humor and a healthy volley of Nerf Blasters are the

best forms of motivation. We surround ourselves

with those who share the same philosophies, and

the combination is nothing short of magical. To

our staff, customers, and corporate partners - thank

you for believing in Próis!

So with that… 2012 looks to be a great year!

Join us for an incredible ride!

Cheers!

“...if you properly respect what you are after, and shoot it cleanly and on the animal’s terrain,

if you imprison in your mind all the wonder of the day from sky to smell to breeze to flowers-

then you have not merely killed an animal. You have lent immortality to a beast you have killed

because you loved him and wanted him forever so that you could always recapture the day.

You could always remember how blue the sky was and how you sat on the high hill

with the binoculars under the great umbrella of the mimosa, waiting...”

Anne has written scores of hunting and taxider-my articles, and has a popular blog, AnnieGotHer-Gun.com. A self-proclaimed “political junkie,” she works hard to help her favorite candidates get elected and protect our Second Amendment rights. Anne hunts big game, waterfowl, and upland birds, and this year had two bowhunting firsts, a turkey her son Tony called in and a nice black bear. She is gearing up for her first African safari in June 2012.

“Two things I want my children and future

generations to have is pride in and willingness to fight for their hunting heritage.”

Vickie Gardner Pro Staff

Vickie Gardner and her husband Tim operate Alpen Optics (www.alpenoptics.com), where she is VP of Stuff. Formerly a “tree-hugging” outdoor educa-tion teacher, Vickie stepped outside her comfor zone with the encouragement of friends and learned to hunt. She has since taken elk, deer, and other game. Vickie partners with Paralyzed Veterans of America to hold hunts for wounded veterans of both sexes. The outdoors is a place of healing, and wounded veterans who hunt and fish prove they are not defined by their injuries. Vickie feels honored and inspired to spend time in the woods with America’s wounded heroes.

I am a woman and a hunter. Hear me roar! Hunting is in my blood. That means training my own retrievers, staying in physical shape,

and spending time at the range. And I am enthusiastic to share my experiences with others, so

they understand my love for the animals, the outdoors, and the hunt. It is my goal to promote a

positive image of a hunter who plays an important part in conservation.

I certainly have not taken the biggest, baddest animals. But that is not why I hunt. Hunting

is very empowering for me. I never feel more alive, mortal, and part of the fabric of the outdoors

and the earth than when on a hunt. Equally important, I feel women are perfect to promote the

image of conscientious hunters, mindful of safety, with a deep understanding of ethics, acting as

powerful ambassadors to create a dramatic sea change in how we, as hunters, are perceived.

It has been my good fortune to hunt a lot of different places, and my heart is full with won-

derful memories, from bogs and woodlands of Newfoundland for caribou and moose, to creek

bottoms and pine forests of Alabama for deer. I have crawled through cactus for pronghorns

and mule deer in Wyoming and spent time in the cold, snowy forests of Vermont and Maine for

whitetails. Yet, most memorably, I have packed into the remote Selway Wilderness of Idaho on

horseback, four times for elk and bears.

I also love to hunt upland birds and waterfowl, and train my own retrievers for both pur-

suits. I am a certified instructor and teach hunter education as a volunteer, and act as a proper

embodiment of my sport, paying special attention to the women and young adults who enroll

in the classes.

In addition, I am part of a gathering of special outdoorswomen, all avid hunters, and as a

group, we sponsor an annual auction of hunting gear and sportsmen’s art, with the proceeds

going to a club that holds hunts for wounded warriors and disabled veterans and children, and

also the Montana Outfitters and Guides Association, contributing to the Big Hearts Under Big

Skies program.

There are so many adventures in my future, and I look forward to them all, hoping each one

is a challenge and extreme!

A few years ago I watched a hunting show with my husband and mentioned in passing how neat it would be to hunt a bear. I never really thought much more about it . . . until my 40th birthday rolled around. Yep, me, 40. Where have all the years gone? In July 2010 I learned that we would be going bear hunting for my birthday, and I couldn’t believe it. So I started doing some re-search, and we watched Life at Table Mountain with Angie & Scott Denny on Sportsman Channel and decided they seemed like honest, family-oriented people. And if Angie hunted with them they would definitely accept women in camp. I know, this is 2012, but seriously, how many wom-en end up in camp and get sideways glances from the male hunters, who must be thinking: “What is she doing here?” And how awkward when you are hunting with male guides and you have to find a tree away from everyone, instead of standing at the front of the truck for a potty break. So I called Table Mountain Outfitters and spoke with Angie and then Scott and booked my bear hunt. The months rolled by, and before I knew it June 2011 was here and it was time to travel to Idaho to hunt my bear. Before we left I thought to myself: “A bear . . . am I crazy?” And of course all my co-workers were asking me if I was crazy and what would I do if it came after me. I admit to second-guessing myself that was I an experienced enough hunter to go after a bear. But I put my fears aside and we headed to the airport. The first morning of bear hunting Angie, Scott, and the other guides loaded up all their dogs in the truck and we headed out. It truly was amazing watching all the coordination of everyone getting the hounds ready and prepped to track a bear. I had no idea what to

expect, never having been to Idaho or hunted bears. Morning of day three at around 10 a.m. we received a call over the radio that the hounds had treed a black bear. The hunter had decided to pass on it, and they asked if I wanted to take it. I was ready for my bear! We started climbing and climbing and climbing. I thought I was in halfway decent shape, but for this Florida flatland girl, climbing up the side of a mountain is hard work! As we were climbing and Angie was telling me that they would all go at my pace, all I could only think that I wanted to get to that bear. I remember seeing a landing above me and thinking I could take a break there. But my husband said, “Babe, you are almost there. Do you hear the hounds?” And I did. Of course a few minutes later I heard him say: “Uh well, you see that other tree up there?” I follow his gaze and looked straight up, and he said: “Well, we really have to get to there. It’s only just a little bit farther, and you will remember this for the rest of your life, not just the bear but what it took for you to get to the bear.” I remember hearing him and thinking he was right. (Please don’t tell him I said that!) I climbed straight up and then looked over and saw Angie and the guides with the hounds and the bear. Angie talked me through the whole thing and stood right at my shoulder. It never occurred to me as I was standing there aiming at this bear in the tree that never had I practiced a shot straight up into the air before. I shot the first arrow and everyone sort of cheered, however I turned around to look at Angie and said: “I don’t think I hit it.” And she calmly handed me another arrow, and swack . . . I knew I had hit it. I was ready immediately with a third arrow, however Angie told me to wait. Sure enough, a few minutes passed and down came my bear. Wow! I was utterly amazed at the size of the bear and that I, me, had actually just shot a bear. It was an amazing hunt. I am so very thankful to have had the opportunity to experience such a wonderful trip and enjoy the sur-roundings with my husband—my best friend and hunting mentor. I originally thought that it would be more challenging to hunt bears over bait in a stand, but after the climb up the mountainside, I believe that hunting with the hounds by far exceeded any expectations I had. It was a hunt that I will truly always remember and thank my husband for encouraging me to climb “just a little further”—it was so worth it. And thanks to Próis gear—when we arrived back at camp, let’s just say that the “trip” down the mountain was a little faster than the climb up, and my Próis pants were no longer in Realtree Max-1 camo pattern, but a new “Idaho Mountain Dirt pattern” on the backside. However, that night, a little water and soap and my pants looked like new! What other clothing company can live up to that except Próis?

If there is a sacred moment in the ethical pursuit of game, it is the moment you release the arrow or touch off the fatal shot.” - Jim Posewitz

Are you a serious female hunter? Are you dedicated to your comunity? Could you be the 2012 Próis Award recipient?

Próis Hunting & Field Apparel continues to celebrate females

who dominate in the field with its first annual Próis Award. And the

competition was stiff, as there was only one winner who took home

the coveted prize: a hunt of a lifetime for elk, mule deer, whitetail

and wolf in the pristine Canadian Rocky Mountains with Savage

Encounters. Attending the hunt with the winner was Diana Rupp,

Editor-in-Chief of Sports Afield! The winner was also fully outfit-

ted with the latest hunting gear from top equipment manufacturers

and Próis Awards sponsors which include: Próis Hunting and Field

Apparel, Savage Encounters, Outdoor Connection, Sports Afield,

Blacks Creek, Hunter Hills Journal, Ripcord Arrow Rest, Bowtech,

Swarovski Optik, Bog-Pod, Acli-Mate and Zamberlan - a killer pack-

age that rang in at more than $25,000 in value.

“Próis and its contest partners are passionate about recognizing

strong, successful female hunters who consider hunting a lifestyle,

and are involved in conservation, management and the hunting com-

munity,” says Kirstie Pike, CEO for Próis Hunting & Field Apparel.

“We’re excited about the great response and were very moved by the

many stories about fearless women who live to hunt - and hunt to

live.”

The ‘No guts, No glory’ statement holds true with the Próis

Awards, the winner must have passion, determination and an unbe-

lievable story to tell that would inspire female hunters around

the globe. Essays and photos were reviewed by a panel of indus-

try expert judges, and the top 12 chosen were then posted onto the

Próis Awards website. Here the hunting community cast their online

votes for who they felt should be crowned the winner. Próis didn’t

let the suspense stop there...once the online voting was closed, the

combined scores from the judges were added to the online votes to

create the final score for each finalist! Unlike many online contests,

the finalists and the public did not know the final outcome until the

confidential judge scores were added.

The Próis Awards panel of industry expert judges includes Diana

Rupp, Editor in Chief of Sports Afield Magazine, Kirstie Pike, CEO

of Próis Hunting & Field Apparel; Craig Boddington, outdoor writer;

Guy Eastman, Publisher of Eastman’s Hunting Journals; Ron Shmeits,

President of the NRA; Ron Spomer, writer, wildlife photographer &

TV host and Brenda Valentine, NWTF spokesperson & TV host.

The 2011 Próis Award Recipient, Andrea Fisher, was flown to the

Archery Trade Association and SHOT shows to attend media-packed

press conferences. Her hunt will be chronicled by Diana Rupp of

Sports Afield for a future feature in the publication.

Do you have what it takes to be the 2012 Próis Award recipient?

Próis will start accepting applications September 1, 2012. For more
