While each of the Faculty’s four Schools has its own vibrant set of research priorities and activities, the Faculty is strongly committed to fostering interdisciplinary research that draws on the knowledge and expertise of our staff and postgraduate research students across different fields of study to help address real-world problems at the community, national and international level. The focus is less on ‘problems’ and more on the strengths and competencies of community members.Communitypsychologystudentslearntoworkinpartnershipwithpeopletoachieve the goals and aspirations of their communities or social groups.

Communitypsychologistsoccupyavarietyofrolesinurbanandruralsettingssuchaslocalgovernment, education, community health and non-government organisations. They work with community members and policy makers in considering the individual, social, political and environmental factors that contribute to psychological wellbeing within communities.

Sport Psychology SpecialisationTheSportPsychologyspecialisationprovidesstudentswithasolidbackgroundintheresearchand theory behind the delivery of psychological services to athletes, coaches and teams. Through lectures, class discussion, demonstrations and role playing, students are instructed in cognitive-behavioural methods and techniques aimed at helping athletes achieve their best in sport and other aspects of their lives.
