The NAIA Champions of Character is an initiative founded on fi ve core values: respect, responsibility, servant lead-ership, integrity, and sportsmanship.

The Haskell Athletic Department for the 2011-2012 aca-demic year embraced the initiative in a more dynamic manner than previous years. This year, the department with the guidance of the Champions of Character Repre-sentative Freda Gipp, and University of Kansas student intern Wesley Kosel created learning environments high-lighting the values.

During a spring session, student-athletes were tasked with creating a value based model focused on “We Are “We Are Haskell.”Haskell.” Athletes separated into groups for a little fun competition on who would be the “faces” of the fi rst vid-eo campaign for “We Are Haskell.” The group in the vid-eo was the winning team …. With a little bit of help from a couple of other student-athletes.
