March 28, 2012Dear Business Friend,Ashby Primary School Council and Friends of Ashby will be hosting our Annual Trivia Night andAuction event on Saturday, June 16th. We appreciate the support our business friends haveprovided us in the past for this important fundraiser and hope your will consider supporting ourevent this year.Money raised from this event allows us to increase the resources available to our school and toimprove the quality of education offered to our students. Last year monies raised went towardssupporting the school's fledgling performing arts program, including the hiring of a musicspecialist and the production of an all school performance. This year monies raised will supportthe school's literacy goals, including expanding the school's Reading Recovery program. Thisintensive program started at the school in mid-2011 provides one on one support to studentswho need assistance in literacy. In only 3 terms this program has garnered impressive resultsand we look forward to expanding its reach.There are two ways that you can show your support for our event:

1) Donate an item for the event; this includes items for the auction, raffles on the night andmystery envelopes

2) Advertise in the Auction CatalogueThe attached Information Sheet provides additional information on each opportunity. There are two ways you can help support Ashby Primary School's Trivia Night and Auction event:1. Donate an item for the eventThis includes items for the auction, raffles on the night and mystery envelopes. Items mayinclude goods (e.g. a vase, a food hamper), gift vouchers (e.g. for a specific amount or a servicelike a facial or an oil change) or coupons (e.g. for one free game, buy one get one free). Alldonors will be highlighted in the Auction Catalogue (generally and in relationship to the itemdonated), in documentation related to each activity (e.g. Auction Item Bid Sheets, Raffle prizecards, Mystery Envelopes) and our school newsletter both before and after the event.

2. Advertise in the Auction CatalogueAn Auction Catalogue will be printed and distributed 7-10 days before the event and at the night.This will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more about what will be offered at theauction and for those unable to attend the event to place proxy bids on items up for auction.Each item donated will be described and the donor noted. It also provides our business friendswith an additional opportunity to advertise their place of business and underscore their supportof the school to the Ashby community. Below are details on submitting an ad for the AuctionCatalogue:

Half page ads (12.7cm x 9cm) in the Catalogue are available for $25. Black/white line art prints best; photos and artwork with shades or screens are accepted,

but do not print in high quality. Keep all ad elements, including text, in black ink, not incolor

Do not submit type, lines, or artwork with fine lines or reverses. Do not provide ads withlarge areas of solid black (boxes, lines, or artwork).

Do not submit ads with tape, staples, glue, rips, or smudges through it. If providing digital files: make sure files are a JPEG, GIF or PDF as these processesembed fonts and artwork. Fonts MUST be embedded for us to use your files. Files in

other formats cannot be used. You can provide a CD or send file tofriendsofash [email protected].

If providing hardcopies: Send quality laser printed pages on white paper, printed on oneside only. This image will be scanned into a digital format for use. You can send hardcopies to Friends of Ashby, 2 Lawton Ave., Geelong West, VIC 3218.
