Dear GMVS Community,

As we enter our 40th year, we have a lot to celebrate. The quality of our applicants is strong, and the numbers seeking admission exceed the places we have available to fill. Admissions officers from many of the most selective schools in the US and Canada recognize how uniquely qualified our graduates have been. The GMVS culture is deep, not only as a result of our committed faculty, but also as a result of our community spirit and involved parent body.

It has been a noisy year on the fundraising front with the Capital Campaign announced right after the kick-off of the Annual Fund, yet the community came together. The Annual Fund finished slightly ahead of its goal and the Capital Campaign is ahead of target. Our success is dependent on the commitment of so many who rose to the challenges presented. As you may know, your gifts enable the school to meet the full cost of providing a high quality education with small class sizes, small coaching groups and well-maintained facilities and vehicles – none of which are fully covered by tuition alone.

With the money raised to date in the Capital Campaign, several high priority projects were completed including dormitory makeovers, Art Building upgrades, and a new Internet server. The Kelly Brush Race Arena has continued to improve with the purchase of highly efficient snow making equipment and new start and finish buildings on the Inverness trail. We will prioritize rewarding our dedicated faculty - the heart of our success - with fair and adequate compensation for the high performance standards we have come to expect from our faculty. Importantly, this all will be enhanced by building up our endowment to give GMVS more financial stability through the cash flow it will provide.

We look forward to another great year on campus and hope to see all of our alumni here June 14-16th for GMVS’ 40th reunion celebration.

lindsay Brush ’02Lindsay Brush graduated from GMVS in 2002 and from Middlebury College in 2007 with a major in Economics. Lindsay is currently working as the Director of Marketing and Development at Summit Property Management Group in South Burlington. Lindsay has been a class agent since graduating from GMVS and is committed to strengthening alumni relations.

Jamie Armstrong ’83 Jamie graduated from GMVS in 1983 and from Laurentian University School in 1987. Before going on to graduate school, Jamie worked for GMVS as a science teacher and J1 woman’s coach. In 1992 he graduated from Yale University School as a Physician Assistant and moved to Boston to play semi-pro soccer. Presently, Jamie is working as a Cardiac Electrophysiologist at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston and is a weekend alpine coach at Waterville Valley’s J5 program. Jamie will focus his Board activities on alumni relations.

In March 2012, GMVS sent 17 athletes to the J3 Eastern Championships (formerly Jr. Olympics), more than any other academy or club.

In 2011, 7 GMVS graduates were awarded Academic All-American honors.

The boys lacrosse team is the Vermont Division II Champion

IN 2012, 6 GMVS Alpine racers were invited to US Ski Team Camps. 50% of all teachers and coaches have worked at the school for over 15 years.
