The Stolen SweetsFriday, June 25, 7:00 pm$15 advance / $17 day of showThe Sweets deliver a unique brand of vintage acoustic jazz, dishing up abundant doses of coy stage antics and sideways glances as they play. The Portland Cello ProjectSaturday, May 14, 7:30 pm$15 advance / $17 day of showThe cello is more-or-less the only constant in this amorphous collective from Portland. Yet there is an organizer holding this anarchic display of controlled chaps together. You’ll see him sitting in the back row of the cello section at all of these shows as if to appear an anonymous member of the horde. Douglas Jenkins, who often pens 15-20 new scores for each performance, has been at the heart of the band’s rise to immense popularity.

Red SneakerFriday, June 17, 7:30 pm$15 advance / $17 day of showOften referred to as the ‘Chuck Norris’ of classical music, Tylor Neist leads a small band of rebel forces in the hope of establishing classical music world dominance. At their super secret classical music samurai school, musicians train year round. As a token of their diligent practice they receive the ‘red sneaker of enlightenment.’ These are not your ordinary, might fall asleep, stuffy concerts, but board breaking, edge of your seat events. Come revel in their triumphant return to the Arts Center!

Specialized Recreation Programs

Specialized Recreation ProgramsSTAR (Specialized, Therapeutic, Adaptive Recreation)Join us for a fun and social opportunity for those 10 years and older who have developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or special needs. STAR events are held the 3rd Friday of each month at Tyson Recreation Center. Pre-registration is encouraged but drop-in participation is always welcome. Fees are $1.00 per person for each event and you may pay upon arrival. Caregivers and guardians do not have to pay.

For safety and liability issues, our staff reserves the right to refuse acceptance into programs for those individuals who display aggressive or challenging behaviors that are inappropriate to a community setting, or puts others at risk of injury. Group homes, caregivers and guardians must provide the appropriate number of staff during these activities to ensure the safety and well-being of the participants. This is a drop-in program, not a drop-off program.
