    Following the widespreadtheft of cultural property inWorld War II, the law pro-tecting cultural heritagegained new significance. Itsimportance has only grownsince then, due to crimes likethe looting of the nationaltreasures of Kuwait and Iraq.The Tulane-Siena Institute for

    International Law, Cultural Heritage & t he Arts issponsoring a symposium: Defending Aphrodite:Enforcing International Cultural Property Law.

    Experts will present papers on topics concerning:the International Legal Order; the Enforcement ofInternational Cultural Property Law by DomesticCourts; and Alternative Methods of Enforcement:Arbitration, Diplomacy, Soft Law and Settlement.

    The Symposium will be held from June 3 to June

    4, 2011, at the Facolt di Giurisprudenza of theUniversity of Siena. We invite you to join us.
