Pre-Game Dutiesn Inspect the penalty box and timekeeper’s box
n Check doors and make sure areas are free from debrisn Check the game clock

n Record players in order of occurrence, and penalties in order of severity (2 – 10 – GM)
n For major infractions, read the penalties back to the referee before play resumes

Coincidental & Multiple Penaltiesn Coincidental penalties are penalties of
equal duration that occur during the same play and start at the same time
n 2 minute minors cannot be cancelled outn If there is not at least one 5 min. major on both
teams, all penalties must be served
Multiple Penaltiesn Must be a minimum 3 players (+ goalie)
on floorn No more than 2 penalties for each team
can be running at once (if penalties are stacked, the 3rd can’t start)
n Multiple penalties are the most difficult to assessn Take time to properly work out the
penalty situation with the referees

n When a player is serving a penalty that is not time-served, he/she cannot be released from the penalty box unless it is during a dead ball with the referee’s permission
