There are not many events that are moreexciting than the annual Kid's Discover.Each year the Telegraph, along with theNorth Platte New Car and Truck DealersAssociation, sponsor this event at theNorth Platte Community College SouthCamps that is meant to introduce kids tolife around them. The event includes fun activities as well as educational opportunities.The wide-eyed look of astonishment askids see a helicopter up close for the firsttime is what this event is all about. GreatPlains Regional Medical Center will havetheir brightly-colored helicopter thereonce again.There will be a number of new activitiesincluding a new slide from the popular

Fun Jumpz. The Golden Spike is sendingout its mascot, Spike the Engineer, toentertain the kids and to be available forphotos.Also new this year will be the addition of Dora, the Charter Communicationscharacter and Thompson Distributing willhave a Slushie Machine set up for someyummy treats.Many of the familiar booths and events arereturning again this year with Gary's SuperFoods setting up their grocery store, theclown balloons, the National WeatherService booth, TeamMates, the Children'sMuseum the Kool-Aid Man and many,many more fun things to experience.There will be the popular obstacle courseand the Operation Lifesaver from theUnion Pacific Railroad. There will be airbrush tattoos (Mom, they are not permanent), the paintball booth and of

course the emergency services includingthe North Platte Police Department andFire department will be there with someinteresting equipment as well.One of the best-attended activities is theKids College sponsored by Mid-PlainsCommunity College. They have someinteresting scientific displays set up thatare not only educational, but very entertaining as well.All in all, this is something kids just don'twant to miss.
