Thirty (30) guests are invited to join RMHC Executive Director Tom Soma as he takes on Le Cordon Bleu

Master Chef and Culinary Student to find out who has the best buns in the city . . . cinnamon buns that

is.

Guests will be met in the kitchen of Le Cordon Bleu on Sunday, February 12th 2012 by Drew Carney of

Newschannel 8 at Sunrise and RMHC celebrity MC Board President Mary Ransome. While sipping

mimosas they will watch the magic happen as the competitors demonstrate their cinnamon bun

preparation techniques.

As the buns bake the group will move to Technique Restaurant for a gourmet brunch created by Le

111. In Memory of Kim Hill

Kim Hill’s battle with leukemia, beginning at age 3, was the catalyst for the first Ronald McDonald House. Kim has inspired many of us. In her memory, a special auction package has been put together of activities that her and her family have enjoyed. Kim passed away March 5, 2011 at the age of 44. She led an active life before her brain tumors (result from the earlier radiation) caused her to slow down. Kim loved her horse Johnny. In high school she ran cross country and was in choir. Kim’s sisters Kyle and Kristina enjoyed belly dancing. The Hill Family played golf and tennis, and often included swimming in their activities. constant changes. This created an other worldly landscape with a man looking out contained, trapped

within the foliage growing, while the octopi roam by the road leading to the moon. Events constantly

shift and turn, while the repetition stays the same, the struggle to continue on surviving, living and dying

Artist’s Statement: This is #3 of an ongoing series, currently at 13, with some on canvas and panel. They

are very much a color exploration and meditative reflection of the Portland environment and simplifying

my process to each drip or color at a time, all placed out very methodically. There is a lot of bright

beautiful colors in the skies here all contained within the grey that seems to be the constant backdrop

predominantly throughout the year.

I wanted to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington because in

1998 in Lewiston, Idaho a friend’s five year old sister was diagnosed of skin cancer and I remember all

the support the RMHC in Spokane gave to her and the family. I believe that the love, kindness, and

support provided by the RMHC helped this young girl’s life and relieved some tension the family had

during one of the most difficult time periods of their lives.
