GENERATION
Our 100th anniversary celebration spotlights our Generation Wow! Girl Scouts and our Women of Distinction
Tonight, we celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts as the premier all-girl leadership development program in the country. Girl Scouts of Colorado serves nearly 30,000 girls in grades K–12 around the state.
Program activities are organized around Girl Scouts’ leadership model where girls Discover, Connect, and Take Action, setting them on a life-long path to lead with courage on issues they care about and take active roles in their communities; lead with confidence and feel empowered to make a difference in their own and others’ lives; and lead with character when they act with integrity and compassion, making decisions that promote the well-being of themselves and others as they continue to make the world a better place.
With an emphasis on our four key Colorado initiatives: My Future, My World, My Planet and My Self, and through activities that build self-confidence, creative decision-making skills and teamwork, girls develop real-world leadership abilities that will last them a lifetime. In celebration of our 100th anniversary, we are honoring 100 exceptional Girl Scouts through the state, deemed the Generation Wow! Girl Scouts.

The annual Women of Distinction event is widely regarded as one of Denver’s premier philanthropic programs, bringing together and recognizing a group of purpose-driven leaders; women in business, healthcare, government, education and philanthropic communities who, like the girls, are dedicated to service and leadership. These women are nominated by their peers and commit to increasing the impact of Girl Scouting through their volunteer and financial contributions.
Since 1997, 383 women leaders in their fields of expertise have been selected as Women of Distinction and have raised more than $2 million to support Girl Scout leadership development programs. One-third of the girls served statewide—at least 10,000 girls annually—come from disadvantaged backgrounds. They benefit most of all from the generous support provided from events like this one.
The 15th annual Women of Distinction event benefits Girl Scout leadership development programs, which engage girls in discovering themselves, connecting with others, and taking action to make the world a better place.
