Hennepin is a Reconciling Congregation, welcoming the full

participation of all persons including the GLBT Community.

    The story of the

    sharing of

    loaves and fish

    was instrumental

    in forming the early

    Christian community.

    What does this story

    mean to you?

    How does it

    shape your faith?

If not this story, what are the main

    stories that hold

    and form you?

    Who might you

    share those stories

    with this week?

    Tending the Garden

    of Your Soul2011 Summer Devotional

    May 15th Deadline!May 15th Deadline!

In the garden more grows than thegardener sows. So says a Spanishproverb. As many of us look to thework of planting gardens and otherslook to receiving the gifts of thosegardens, we look forward to thesummer months when the earth willonce again bring forth beauty andgoodness beyond our imaginations.

As people of faith, we declare thatthese are a visible sign of Godsgraceful movement that has existedsince the beginning of time. These giftsof the Earth feed not only our bodiesbut our souls. Our souls also requirethe careful tending which our gardensneed to grow into their fullness.

Our summer theme, Tending theGarden of Your Soul, will help us diginto the soil that is home for ourspiritual lives. How do you tend andnurture your soul? Does your prayer,

your worship, your daily living, needmore sunlight, more moisture? Whatare you doing to tend to what yourfaith needs to grow and deepen?

Over the summer we will explore amyriad of ways to nurture our souls.Youre invited to offer a short devotion, prayer or poem for our second sum-mer devotional. Share what you do totend to your soul. Offer words thathave inspired you, helping your soulroots to go deeper and the floweringof your faith life to blossom. Offerings

should be 250 words or less andshould be sent to [email protected] Sunday, May 15 with the wordDevotional in the subject line. Ifyou have questions, contact SallyJohnson [email protected].
