History

In 2000

• There were 1 or 2 DVDs per file

depending on size.

• There were individual state files and one

national file

• 9.2 million geographic summaries

• 60 billion data cells

In 2010

• There is one DVD that will contain all data

for all geography levels for each state and

the national file.

• There will be approxiamitly 20G of data

compressed on the high density DVD.

What is the Data Engine?

The 2010 Census Data Engine:

–is for the user who wants to perform quick and accurate

data analysis.

–produces highly accurate demographic reports and

tables for any geographic area, whether standard or user

defined.

– allows for data analysis that can be performed either by

using the 2010 Census Data Engine as a stand-alone

report-generating engine or in tandem with a mapping

product (your GIS) for in-depth visualization.

Why Use the 2010 Data Engine?

• New features include:

– The files can be exported for use with popular GIS applications.

– The ability to import the Census 2000 data into the engine. The user will be then be able to do comparisons between appropriate data outputs from the 2010 and 2000 Census.
