Letter from the

Executive DirectorIn 2010 the Humane Society of Tampa Bay continued to concentrate on our core programs. Those programs are sheltering and adoption of homeless dogs and cats; affordable spay/neuter and health care for owned pets; community programs that help keep pets in their homes and a TNR (trap, neuter, return) program for free roaming cats. Additionally, we increased our commitment to Hillsborough County Animal Services by taking even more at risk animals from their shelter into our adoption program. We have also extended

our reach to other communities so that we can help save more lives. The bottom line is that we want real change for the animals in our community. We are committed to keep animals in their homes when possible and to work towards significantly reducing the euthanasia of adoptable animals in our community.

We grew all of these programs in 2010 and once again received a 4 star charity navigator rating. For every dollar that we receive in donations, we spend 86 cents towards our programs. We are very proud of the work that we do and that includes the way that we spend your donations.

On behalf of the entire staff, and the animals we serve, thank you for supporting the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

Sherry L. Silk Executive Director

As we approach our Centennial year, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has made an incredible impact on our community with the services we offer. From 1912 to present, thousands and thousands of animals have been saved and found forever homes. But that is not all we have done. We have developed programs to assist those in the community to become responsible pet owners and have been consistent in teaching the importance of spay/neuter, the importance

of preventative medications and now that we offer services at our wellness clinic, it is helping owners to keep their pets in their homes. We have literally grown out of our current clinic and are embracing the opportunity to grow. We are scheduled to open our new wellness clinic during our Centennial year. Our community has grown and so has the need for our services.

In addition to what we do here, we are also very active throughout the country in sharing the word of our success. Our partnership with Hillsborough County Animal Services is one that is looked at as a model to many other communities. Together we offer free shot clinics throughout the county to thousands that need assistance. We offer a free food bank that has literally kept hundreds of animals in their homes. The euthanasia numbers in our county have dropped 48% in the past 5 years. This is just a glimpse of some of the things we offer our community and none of it could be accomplished without your help. You are truly a huge part of our success and for that we are grateful.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Advisory Board, our staff and volunteers, we would like to sincerely thank you for your part in helping us work towards our goal of No More Homeless Pets.

We would love to mention every donor, but space limitations allow us to recognize by name only those who have contributed $200 or more in 2010, but in our hearts, we thank you all!
