The current mark of 77,803 fans was set on May 7, 2010, at Veletins Arena, a domed soccer stadium in Germany, when USA played Germany in the 2010 iiHF World Championship. Representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records will be in Ann Arbor to certify the attendance at the game. ice Rink Events installed the Olympic-sized ice sheet, 200’ x 100.’ An NHL rink is 200’ x 85.’ The Big Chill at the Big House is the fifth outdoor game in NCAA Division i men’s ice hockey, and the third outdoor contest involving the University of Michigan. THE MICHIGAN-MICHIGAN STATE SErIES• According to Michigan records, the Wolverines lead the series, 136-121-18. According to MSU’s record book, U-M leads the series 140-122-18. The discrepancy is the result of five games played in the 1920s, some of which were contested prior to U-M attaining varsity status.• Since the Cold War in 2001, U-M holds an 18-15-9 edge. During that 42-game span there have been 10 one-goal games.• Last year the Wolverines and Spartans split their six total games. MSU won the first three match-ups, including a home-and-home sweep

on Nov. 13-14, 2009. The teams then split a series in East Lansing and Detroit, with U-M winning the regular season finale at Joe Louis Arena. Capping the season series was a showdown in the quar-terfinals of the CCHA Tournament. U-M won the best-of-three series in convincing fashion, best-ing the Spartans in East Lansing by scores of 5-1 and 5-3.• in 2008-09, U-M was 5-0-0 against MSU.• Between Michigan head coach Red Berenson and Michigan State head coach Rick Comley the duo boast four NCAA titles (two apiece) and a combined 1,482 victories. in his 27th year as a head coach, Berenson has a career record of 708-333-73 and ranks sixth all-time among college hockey coaches for victories. Comley, in his 38th season overall and ninth at Michigan State, has a 774-604-109 career mark and ranks fourth all-time. Both have also won the Spencer Penrose Award as college hockey’s top coach.

• Coach Berenson is 17-14-8 against Coach Comley since the latter took over the MSU duties. Berenson had an 11-5-3 advantage when Comley led Northern Michigan.• Senior left wing and co-captain CARL HAGELiN has an even six goals and six assists in 15 career games against Michigan State. He has at least one point in each of the last four meet-ings with the Spartans. He had the game-winning goal in each game of U-M’s weekend sweep of MSU on Jan. 23-24, 2009.• in 15 career games vs. the Spartans, senior center LOUiE CAPORUSSO has seven goals, more than any other active Wolverine, as well as six assists. Caporusso has produced a trio of three-point games against MSU, most recently a two-goal, one-assist showing in the 2010 CCHA Tournament at MSU on March 12.• Complete series game-by-game history is avail-able on page twelve of the game notes.
