Congratulations P&C Our Parents and Citizens group is officially up and running with Belinda Hayes taking on the role of President, and Tracey Hicks as Treasurer. Thanks to all our volunteer P&C, who support the school unconditionally. Our P&C are committed to enhancing school life for all of our students. New meeting times are being trialled at 3.30pm on Wednesday May 12 in Mrs Vicario’s room, which has an area for young children to play comfortably. It would be wonderful to see some new faces, so please come along and get involved in your child’s school life in an easy and enjoyable way. Thanks for Donations Many thanks to Mitre 10 Macksville who have donated new lunch boxes for our students’ canteen lunches. Arrival Times at School A gentle reminder to all parents. Some children are arriving at school far too early. Teacher supervision does not start until 8.40, so please do not allow your child/ren to arrive before this time. School Clothing Pool Have you got any MPS school uniforms that are no longer required? Our school clothing pool is running low. Also, if your child needs to borrow clothes while at school, please wash and return to Mrs Langley in the office. The Show Another successful Nambucca Valley Show was also held over the weekend. Meg Ronan and Kirstin Knight put together an excellent public education exhibition that reflected what happens in our school — well done. ~ Ron MacDonald, Relieving Principal

Library Book Club will be given out tomorrow. Orders with name, class and correct money to the Library next Tuesday May 4th. Parent Volunteers If you have some spare time, we need some parent volunteers to cover books and make maths games for Stage 1 classes. Please contact Debbie Grenenger in the office if you can help.

* The canteen needs your help. Please see Wendy if you can give a few hours of your time next term, or phone her at the

school.

4/5 HT Cooking ~ Did you know that Anzac biscuits were originally called Soldiers Biscuits? On Friday 23rd April 2010, students from 4/5TH put their culinary skills to the test when we made some Anzac biscuits. 3 different groups of students made some yummy biscuits which we gave to Mr Mac for him to judge which biscuit was the tastiest. He could not answer the question – Which is tastier? A crunchy or chewy Anzac biscuit? as all our biscuits were delicious! 2010 Debaters! Watch out, they’ll star t practicing at home! What an incredibly talented range of kids we have at our school! Last weeks auditions r e v e a l e d t h e determination and enthusiasm of twelve of our kids who want to take part in this exciting competition. The calibre of these students was so impressive that we’ve been given permission to take them all to the debating workshop at T o o r m i n a t h i s Thursday. We will be taking our cars but need two other vehicles to get all the kids to the venue.

News From Kat & Kirstin In The LCC

Homework Heroes Stop homework hassles!!

Send the kids along on Wednesdays after school (til 4:15pm) to the LCC. They’ll get encouragement and help to

complete their work and hand it in on time.

The kids love helping & encouraging each other and with numbers

growing every week, this is proving to be a really popular way to get their homework done.

Are your kids doing something fabulous outside of school?

Won a ribbon for horse riding? Got a ‘4’ at cricket? Got a ‘birdie’ in golf? Caught a big fish? Been away for motocross? We would love to

start a column that highlights the wonderful things that our kids get up to or achieve outside of school. What have your kids done to make you

proud? Send in a story or photo to get us started! It doesn’t have to be super amazing, just something you’d like to share.

[email protected] or [email protected]

The LCC has six new computers that are all linked to our wireless network. Internet is accessible and quite fast! Could you use them for assignments? Job applications? Or creating your resume? If so, talk to us about when it might suit best.

Relay For Life

We are so proud of all the adults and children from our school who will be participating in this event! Kim & Kim came to speak with our Student Rep Council (SRC) who are now getting behind the project by helping to make posters and getting the word around to ensure lots of $2 sandwiches are purchased. The SRC will be helping to make and distribute the yummies at lunchtime (1.20pm) this Friday. This offers our kids and you the chance for something

a little different for lunch whilst supporting a worthy cause. Bring the whole family!

Why not join us for a sausage sanga???

Sausage Sizzle For Cancer Research

E l i z a b e t h A r g u e , Maddison Avery, Zoe Baines, Max Cleversly, G e o r g i a C r a v e n , Damien Cross, Sophie Crowley , Georgia Johns, Erin Lawler, Layla Smith, Natalie Telford, and Tamara Wood.

Our kids had an absolute blast at the Macksville Show this year! Our students won ribbons won for a number of events including, horse riding, baking, craft, chickens and lots more! Not to mention all our kids that just went along for the fun of it! It’s how great memories are made.

Macksvil le Show was so much fun!
