STAGES 1 - 7OVERVIEW
- 1 - TOUR OF SOUTHLAND 2017
WELCOMEIt is my pleasure to welcome all competitors and supporters to the 2017 SBS Bank Tour of Southland.
The province of Southland eagerly awaits this proud and iconic Southland sporting event which was introduced to the province back in 1956, as part of the region’s centenary celebrations. The Tour has stood the test of time while many other similar events have come and gone, with the event now regarded as a leading multi-stage Tour in Australasia.
Cycling Southland’s sincere thanks are extended to SBS Bank for their continuation as the major naming right’s sponsor of the Tour. We also acknowledge the outstanding support from our major supporting sponsors, Invercargill Licensing Trust, ILT Foundation, the Invercargill City Council, the Community Trust of Southland, Pub Charity, Lion Foundation, The Southern Trust and NZCT. This continued support is what enables the Tour to achieve the positive outcomes for the community and the sport of cycling in the region. Our thanks are also extended to the many community sponsors who also traditionally support the Tour.
The Tour has again attracted a large field to the region, indicating the continuing popularity of the event.
All travelling with this year’s Tour are encouraged to give their utmost cooperation at all times to ensure the safe and smooth running of the event. All associated with the Tour are encouraged to support and acknowledge our valued supporting sponsors wherever possible.
On behalf of Cycling Southland, I extend my best wishes to all participants and supporters of this year’s Tour and trust that you enjoy our southern hospitality. We hope that you have a safe journey home following the event and take with you many fond memories of the 2017 SBS Bank Tour of Southland, and of the Southland region and its people.

- 2 - TOUR OF SOUTHLAND 2017
2017 TEAM LISTS
We’re proud to be the naming sponsor of the Tour of Southland for our fifth year. Last year’s event was fast paced, entertaining and exhilarating and we’re excited about this year’s upcoming tour. The Tour of Southland aligns with our commitment to Southland and our desire to help our community develop and prosper through positive events.
The tour would not be possible without the commitment and dedication of the organising committee, enthusiastic volunteers, local businesses and individuals, along with support from the Southland cycling community.
On behalf of the team at SBS, I offer a very warm welcome to competitors, supporters and visitors. Enjoy this week of thrills, excitement and triumphs as some of New Zealand’s (and the world’s) top cyclists compete in another outstanding Southland event, and stay safe.
