their reserved parking spaces and our front doors.
If you see people parking in this special area, make a special
effort to welcome them. You may also want to direct them to the
Welcome Center (in the foyer) where they can obtain more infor-
mation about our church and the activities currently available.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Spring All-church Clean-upBy Gary L. Jaehnel, Facilities Manager
Wed like to provide a special
thank-you to the 30+ people
that came last Saturday morningto help with Spring Clean-Up.
Volunteers ranged in age from
eight to well, lets just say
those who have participated in
numerous clean-ups. Yards were
raked, debris picked up, bushes
trimmed, sidewalks edged,
gutters cleaned out, supplies
transported, windows cleaned,
carpet vacuumed, and many
other projects. Some of these
tasks hadnt been accomplished
for years. Our nine acres ofgrounds and 272,000 sq. ft.
of facilities have an improved
appearance because of the hard
work put in by these individuals
and families. Their willingness
to give of their time and talents
is greatly appreciated.
Take a close look as you
leave the north parking lot.
The overgrown bushes have
all been trimmed to where we
can see out to the street. Betteryet, people can see us. The new
openness might even attract
people driving by to stop in and
check us out.
If you know someone that
helped with Spring Clean-Up,
please let them know how much
you appreciate what they did.
They deserve an extra pat on
the back.

God is good! I want to thank the many people at First
Federated who so willingly helped with the JGM Jesus
Revival. Because of you the JGM Jesus Revival was an
awesome event and I hope all who attended rekindled their
love for Jesus Christ. Marilyn Lee
I want to thank Pastor Rose and staff at First Federated
Church and our Federated family for the support you have
all shown especially this
past year as we prepared
for the Revival. I have
experienced personal
revival this year especially
during the three waves of
training facilitators for the
follow up Bible studies. My
personal experience studying the Bible in an inductive way,
like never before, has helped me to discover Gods Word formy personal life. Deb Crivaro
Praise and glory to the Worthy One! I have witnessed
the work of the Spirit as hundreds responded to a call for
repentance. I saw people come together from hundreds
of churches into unity of worship. I witnessed thousands
waving a white flag of surrender to the will of God and
standing to their feet in commitment to serve the King of
Kings. Jane Lanz
Thank God for bringing Just Give Me Jesus to Des Moines
It opened many doors of opportunities to serve Him in fresh
ways in the last two years. I thank God for First Federated
being willing to be an active church to support the efforts
needed for this to happen in our city. Pat Harker
The event had tremendous impact on our city. However, now is
not the time to rest on this individual accomplishment.
John F. Kennedy, another effective political leader, reinforces
the need for continued action, saying, There are risks and costs
to a plan of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks
and costs of comfortable inaction.
Do not be lulled into comfortable inaction. Go to our website to
locate a follow up Bible study to keep your spiritual heart revived!
Pursing the VisionJust Give Me Jesus ReportBy Joe Lightfoot, Pastor of Adult Ministries
Vaclav Havel, by trade a playwright, was the last President of
Czechoslovakia and the first President of the Czech Republic. A
visionary leader, his thirteen years in office saw radical change
in his nation, including implementing capitalism and democracy,
and entry into NATO and the European Union.
Havel said his success came from more than vision alone. He concluded, Vision is not enough; it must be combined with
venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps; we must step up the
stairs.
Havels attention
to initiative helps us
focus on the next step
in the Just Give Me
Jesus revival. The next
step involves your
participation in a small
group Bible study
titled The Vision of
His Glory. This seven-week study from the
book of Revelation focuses on the glory of Jesus our Redeemer
and King. Five of the studies in the metro region will be held
right here at FFC. To identify the best time and location for you,
go to our website at www.firstfederated.org. You will be able to
get information to contact the leader of the group you desire to
attend.
This wonderful opportunity to continue to revive our hearts
and deepen our focus on Jesus comes from the powerful
experience of the Just Give Me Jesus event. We were blessed to
be able to support the rally financially and through the efforts
of many here at FFC. Some of those involved shared how their
involvement impacted them:
I am amazed how God took me out of my comfort zone,
showed me how He could use me, stretch me, cause me to
grow in my faith, and see Him provide over and over. All I
had to do was be willing and available. I am so thankful for
FFCs promoting JGM Jesus and their generosity of giving
to this revival. God changed many lives and brought many
to accept Him or to make recommitments.Jan Mudderman

The book of Revelation was
written to help Christians who are
experiencing pressure and problems
stress and suffering, crisis and
change, to keep their focus on Jesus
at such a time as this. Anne leads a
workshop that teaches participants
how to listen to Gods voice speak
through His Word. This workshop
prepares viewers for the remaining
six sessions involving personal
study using a workbook, followed
by small group discussion. Each
one-hour video message, which
Anne filmed at The Billy Graham

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
What does he do?
I am on call 24/7, every day. I
could be called upon to give a deathnotification, officiate at a funeral or offer
comfort to the sick or dying. I could be
asked to perform a wedding ceremony
for deputies, or ride along with them
while they are on duty. As I get to know
the officers, I am given opportunities to encourage them, and
to minister to them and to their families. I am available to offer
marriage and family counseling and to help them cope with the
often difficult tasks they are called upon to perform. Hospital
visitation of deputies or their family members are opportunities
to build relationships. They are a close knit group and it takes
time to develop relationships of trust with them. As public
servants assigned the task of protecting our community, they areunder a lot of stress as they are the disciplinarians and the enforc-
ers of justice. The task of building br idges into the deputies lives
is slow but rewarding work and I am honored to serve them.
The State of Iowa sees over 70% of the incarcerated going
back to prison. With the faith based method only 6% go back to
prison or jail. What a huge difference when one is truly trans-
formed by the power of God!

KZ ChurchGod Rocks our new
theme for KZ Church
brings us the story of
Nehemiah this week.
Nehemiah had a good jobas a cupbearer. However, he
felt Gods call to return to a crumbled Jerusalem and lead the
effort to rebuild. There was opposition. Nehemiah had plenty of
opportunities to say, Its just not worth it and quit, but he didnt.
He relied on Gods strength to get the job done and he called the
people to rejoice! Ask your child all about Nehemiah and what he
did when things got tough.
Starting TODAY and for the
next several weeks the chapel will
be under construction. Our KZChurch program will be meet-
ing in the Xtreme room, #205,
upstairs. Follow the signs to collect your child after the service.
