Series Notes:The Flames will kick off the 2006 season on a Thursday evening, marking the first-ever Thursday game in school history … Liberty enters its contest with St. Paul's holding a perfect 5-0 record when facing the Tigers, including a 3-0 mark when hosting the Division II opponent in the Hill City … St. Paul's is a member of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and Liberty has posted a combined 17-1 record against current CIAA members … Liberty's lone lost to a current CIAA member came to Bowie State in 1975 … Liberty and St. Paul's squared off for five-straight years, starting in 1975; however, the two teams have not met since the 1979 season … in its first-ever meeting, Liberty was able to hold off the Tigers for a 24-17 victory in Lynchburg in 1975 … in the Flames' first visit to Lawrenceville, Liberty pulled out another close victory as Liberty walked away from SPC Athletic Field with a 24-21 in 1976 … the Flames took to the ground for a 26-9 win over the Tigers in 1977 as Liberty racked up 371 yards on 65 carries en route to the victory … in 1978, the Flames once again outlasted the Tigers to pick up their second-straight win in Lawrenceville with a 34-28 victory … in the last meeting, the Flames downed the Tigers, 44-0, in 1979 to start a four-game winning streak to close out a 9-1-1 season which was the best season under head coach Tom Dowling … the 44-0 victory also marked the 10th shutout in school history … since the 44-0 shutout against the Tigers, Liberty has recorded just four additional shutouts in school history.

Series Notes:This game will mark the third time that Liberty and Glenville State have squared off on the gridiron, but the first since the 1998 season … Liberty holds a perfect 2-0 record against the Pioneers with both previous meetings taking place at Liberty's Williams Stadium … the two squads first took to the field in 1997 when Liberty used a balanced attack with 158 rushing yards and 126 passing yards to record a 21-7 victory … in their last meeting, the Flames opened up the 1998 campaign with a 56-7 victory over GlenvilleState at Williams Stadium … on the day, Liberty rushed for six touchdown and passed for two more, including 110 yards and a rushing touchdown by Walt Heilig and 88 yards and two more rushing touchdowns by Stacy Nobles … Glenville State is a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) … Liberty has posted a perfect 6-0 record against current members of the WVIAC as they have also squared off against Concord (3-0) and West Liberty State (1-0).

Series Notes:The contest will mark the 11th meeting between the two programs with Liberty holding a 6-4 record in previous meetings … the rivalry started in 1983 with Liberty and Towson squaring off against each other eight times over a 10-year span, which included Liberty posting a 3-1 record against the Tigers at Towson … last year, the Flames had a six-game winning streak against the Tigers halted as Towson picked up a 38-17 victory over Liberty in Lynchburg … the contest marked the first meeting between the two teams since the 1992 season … in the series' first-ever game, the two teams combined for just 476 yards of total offense; however, Towson scored a touchdown in the opening and closing quarters to pick up a 13-3 victory over Liberty on September 17, 1983 … the Tigers last victory in the series came in 1986 when fourth-ranked (Division II) Towson was able to squeak out a 12-10 win in a defensive struggle on October 11th in Towson, Md. … the Flames 20-14 victory over Towson on November 19, 1988, in Towson, Md., marked the conclusion of Liberty's first season at the Division I level … the 1989 meeting marked an historic date in the history of the program as Liberty and Towson opened up play at Williams Stadium on October 21st … the contest saw the Tigers score the first points in the stadium's history with a 42-yard field goal by Brian Dick; however, Liberty reeled off 30-straight points to pick up the first-ever victory in the facility's history as Liberty handed the visiting Tigers a 37-18 loss in front of 12,750 Homecoming fans … in 1990, the Flames took a 20-3 lead into the intermission and made it count en route to a 30-10 victory on October 20th at Towson to mark the team's fifth victory of the season … in 1991, the Flames jumped out to a 17-0 lead and held on despite Towson scoring 22 fourth quarter points for a 38-28 thrilling Homecoming victory at Williams Stadium … in 1992, the Flames scored 16 first quarter points and held off a late second half charge as the Tigers scored 14 second half points only to fall short in a 16-14 Liberty victory in Towson, Md.

Series Notes:This contest will mark the third meeting between the two programs with William & Mary holding a perfect 2-0 record against Liberty in the previous two meetings … in their most recent meeting last year, William & Mary racked up 635 yards of total offense en route to a 56-0 victory over Liberty on Cary Field at Walter J. Series Notes:This will mark the fourth-straight season that the Flames and the Keydets have squared off against each other on the gridiron and the fifth time overall … the Keydets enter the game holding a 3-2 edge in the overall series after picking up a 10-7 victory over the Flames in Liberty's Homecoming game last year … in their last meeting at Alumni Memorial Stadium, Liberty picked up a 38-17 victory over VMI … the game marked an historic occasion in school history as Dre Barnes became the school's all-time leading rusher as a 32-yard scampered down the right side of the field helped the senior surpass Stacy's Nobles previous record of 3,711 yards rushing … in their last meeting at Williams Stadium, Liberty posted one of the most dramatic comebacks in school history as the Flames recorded four fourth quarter rushing touchdowns to pick up a 31-28 Big South victory over the Keydets on October 4 … in their first meeting in 1995, the Flames entered the fourth quarter with a 10-point advantage, however, the Keydets reeled off 29-unanswered points to prevent the Flames from taking home the road victory … in 2002, VMI posted its highest rushing total since 1996 with 338 yards en route to a 24-point victory despite Dre Barnes becoming just the ninth player in school history to rush for 200 yards in a game with a career-high 202 yards on the afternoon.
