TEAM NOTES

SEASON RECAP: The Ottawa Senators finished the 2006-07 regular season with a 48-25-9 record and 105 points … The Senators

finished fourth in the Eastern Conference and second in the Northeast Division … Ottawa finished second in goals for (286) and in

goals per game (3.49) to Buffalo (295, 3.64 GF/G) … Ottawa also finished second in 5-on-5 goals with 179 (Buffalo, 201) … Ottawa

led the NHL in goal differential at +70 (not including goals in shootout wins or losses) … Ottawa will be making their 10th consecutive

playoff appearance in 2007 -- the longest current streak among Canadian teams and second longest (along with New Jersey) in the

NHL behind Detroit (16 straight).

ATTENDANCE INFO: In 41 home games in 2006-07, the Senators averaged 19,355 and had 31 sell-outs as 793,562 fans visited

Scotiabank Place … The Senators set a new attendance record on Dec. 29 vs. the NY Rangers when 20,214 fans visited Scotiabank

CHRISTMAS EXCHANGE: Ottawa was one of the NHL’s hottest clubs in the second half of the regular season as the club posted

the league's third best record since Dec. 25, going 30-7-8 (68 points) … Ottawa sat in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with 37

points at Christmas and ended up finishing fourth in the conference for their 10th

straight playoff appearance … Vancouver led all

fastest three goals in a game when Chris Neil (2:00), Dean McAmmond (2:24) and Jason Spezza (3:16) scored in a 1:16 span of the

third period vs. NY Islanders on March 15 ... Ray Emery set a new record for most saves (43) in a regulation win at Detroit on Dec.

12 (3-2 win) and tied his own record with 43 saves in a 3-2 overtime win at Toronto on Dec. 30 ... Ottawa set a club record for most

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

100 HEATLEY STREET: Dany Heatley became the first NHLer to record consecutive 50-goal seasons since Florida’s Pavel Bure,

who completed the feat with 58 goals in 1999-2000 and another 59 markers in 2000-01 … Heatley also became the first Senator to

record back-to-back 100-point seasons as he finished with 103 points (50-53) in 2005-06 and 105 (50-55) in 2006-07 … In 2006-07,

Heatley led Ottawa in goals (50), points (105), hat tricks (3), shots (310), even-strength goals (30), PPG (17), and GWG (10) … The

26-year-old finished second in the NHL in goals and fourth in points .

HIT PARADE: Chris Neil's fifth NHL season was definitely not hit or miss. Neil finished the season to lead all NHL players in hits,

recording 288 in 82 games (3.51 hits/game). Neil also finished third in penalty minutes with 177 as he’s the club’s all-time leader in

PIM’s with 953. The 27-year-old has reached double digits in hits three times this season with Ottawa recording a win in each of

those games: 11 hits on Oct. 21 (8-1 win vs. NJ), 12 hits on Dec. 16 (3-1 win at Buffalo) and 10 hits on Dec. 27 (2-0 win vs. NYI).

DEFLECTING ATTENTION: Defenceman Anton Volchenkov was a welcome presence in front of Ottawa netminders in 2006-07 as

he led all NHL players with 273 blocked shots in 78 games (3.5 blocked shots/game) … Volchenkov also finished 12th in the NHL

with 205 hits and fifth in plus/minus at +37 … The 25-year-old was the Senators’ nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy by

the Ottawa chapter of Professional Hockey Writers Association. The award is given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of

perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.

STATELY SENATOR: Captain Daniel Alfredsson further engrained himself in the Senators record books after playing in his 11th

consecutive season in 2006-07. The 34-year-old recorded his fifth straight 25-goal season (sixth overall) and ended up with 29 goals,

a team-leading 58 assists and 87 points. Alfredsson has also reached the 20-goal plateau in nine of his 11 seasons and finished

second in the NHL in plus-minus (+42). The only active players with more 20-goal seasons for their current teams than Alfredsson

has for the Senators are Joe Sakic (17 for the Nordiques/Avalanche), Mike Modano (14 for the Stars), and Mats Sundin (12 for the

Maple Leafs). Two other players also had nine 20-goal seasons for their current clubs: Jarome Iginla (Flames) and Markus Naslund

(Canucks). Alfredsson leads the Senators in all-time games played (783), goals (290), assists (467) and points (758).

POINT PRODUCERS: Dany Heatley, Daniel Alfredsson and Jason Spezza have kept themselves in great company as they are three

of the top-15 point producers in the NHL since returning from the lockout. Ottawa is the only NHL team to have three players among

these leaders:

THREE IRONMEN: Forwards Dany Heatley and Chris Kelly and defenceman Andrej Meszaros have played 164 consecutive games

since the NHL returned from the lockout in 2005-06 ... Including the 2003-04 season, Dany Heatley has played 195 consecutive

games since 1/28/04 (while with Atlanta) ... The Senators record for most consecutive games played is held by former captain Alexei

Yashin, who played 292 straight games from 12/31/95 through 4/17/99.

BEHIND THE BENCH: In his second season behind the bench for the Senators, head coach Bryan Murray is the leader among all

active NHL coaches in both games (1,221) and wins (613). Murray also sits fifth in all-time wins and sixth in all-time games coached.

The 64-year-old native of Shawville, Quebec became only the fifth head coach all-time to reach the 600 career victories when the

Senators recorded a 4-3 shootout win over Edmonton on Feb. 20. He joins Scotty Bowman (1,244), Al Arbour (781), Dick Irvin (692)

and Pat Quinn (657). Murray, the fifth coach in Senators history, also reached his 1,200th game at Buffalo on Feb. 22 (6-5 shootout

loss). RAZOR SHARP: Goaltender Ray Emery had a career year to help him capture the 2006-07 Molson Cup award. The 24-year-old

posted career highs in games played (58), wins (33) and shutouts (5) while posting a career-low 2.47 goals-against-average. Emery captured the award with 13 first-star selections, eight second- and seven third-star selections as he also captured the monthly awards in November, December, February and March. Emery started 34 of 40 games between Nov. 15 and Feb. 10, posting a 21-11-2 record in that time. He also started in 12 straight home games for Ottawa from Nov. 18 to Jan. 6, going 7-4-1. Emery set a new club record for most saves (43) in a regulation win at Detroit on Dec. 12 (3-2 win) finished 6-0-1 when facing 40 or more shots on the season.

SPEZZA DELIVERY: Ottawa’s Jason Spezza had 87 points this season, tying him for 15th in the NHL, but his average of 1.30 points

per game was fifth-highest among players who appeared in at least 60 games. The top four were Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby (1.52),

San Jose’s Joe Thornton (1.39), Calgary’s Jarome Iginla (1.34) and Tampa Bay’s Vincent Lecavalier (1.32).
