business. It may be difficult to find such people, but worth checking.

I will say this is a good idea but you need to just find the right location. In addition to stationery you can

also add Mobile Phone Recharging etc; In chennai if you see in the evenings they are also selling batters

(dosai / idly mavu) there by earning extra money. You can also sell icecreams, chocolates etc; as many

kids / students will visit your shop. As said earlier the location is only important .. middle-class populated

areas, near schools / college etc; are good location. I think capital needed will be somewhere between 2 to

3 lacs and most of it will be used for purchase of goods. You can also do one thing, try to contact people

Hi Mohsin,

I was running an event management company in 2007 along with my web development business, I closed

EM soon because of improper staffs. Good to see that you are not having that problem. Finding clients is

the key in any business and to find the right client you need to have the right contacts. I will suggest you to

also do small programs like Birthday parties, Wedding parties etc; I know this is not your key business

area but by taking these parties you will get good contacts with lots of people, using which tomorrow you

will get big live shows, product launches etc; In 2007 I undertook 2 birthday parties .. you won't believe

me .. during the time of organizing the parties I did not know this … the uncle of the birthday boy was the

GM in a leading chemical group and the aunty was Director of a leading educational institute incoimbatore. Through this contacts I got some good industry shows. But as mentioned earlier my staffs

were not good, my event manager a girl named subha absconded with the money and many unwanted

things happended. Be careful while dealing with money and All the best!

Johnson, Since you have already started in soft skills training, my personal suggestion is to

work under a trainer who is already doing similiar business. This is one of the fastest way of

learning from the existing business. While you would know about hte competency required,

you would also know how to manager such business and attract customers and manager your

This is Badrinath, I finished my M.Sc in Analytical Biosciences in UK, and returned to India, and I have an Idea

Dear Suresh,

I started a traiding company in 2006 and got associated with a Singapore base company for Agro commodities

trading. My company was wording as an indending company and got good business for them for Sugar and Rice

export. Then a ban came from Indian Govt on Rice and Sugar Export. And I took a break from my work for

some personal reasons.

I am now back in business but now finding it very difficult to get orders for agro commodities as this year the

Indian Sugar , Rice and other commodities r trading at a very high price no buyers in export market and at the

same time I want to start something new.

Like Chocolate & cookies manufacturing unit and a small shop also for that. I stay in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.

to do such business, you need to increase the relationships to longer distances. This way you could

Hi Jasim, Business on computer apps, web and softwares are like an ocean. I may not be asking you to

jump into the ocean. A 12 year child in US has developed an mobile app and now making $ 10,000 per

day. You may be having required knowledge, you just need to see how you can show case your creativity.

My personal suggestion, do your home work, explore atleast 80 to 100 options in the area you arepassionate about. Do a deep filter and take out 3 to 5 business ideas. These should be the ones where you

think you can spend sleepless nights to make it successful business. Choosing 1 best idea out of that. You

would fit in. As I keep saying to others, take a pen and paper and start writing as many ideas as you can.

Then start filtering on the area of your interest/passion. Pick-up 2-3 business ideas where you think you

can do best. If you think that for a business idea you can spend sleepless nights and work without tiredness

and run it with passion, then would be the business which suits you. :-)

Let me begin by saying that your articles are simple to understand, so people with no idea on financial matters can

easily comprehend.

Needed your advise on something. A friend and me have plans to open a mid-sized cafe/bistro in Pune. Minimum

investment would be Rs. 20 lakhs, including location, manpower and equipment. We were advised by close friends

not start our first business with a bank loan, as the restaurant business is extremely risky. So we have decided to

Mini, If you want Rs. 20 lakhs in say 3 years (short term to medium term) at 11% returns p.a. you need to

invest Rs. 47K per month. You can invest in combination of Bank FD + Diversified mutual funds + debt

mutual funds. Instead this, my suggestion is go for 50% in your own funding and another 50% on bank

loan. So to get Rs. 10 lakhs in 3 years, you need Rs. 23.5K to be invested every month. You can look for

these alternatives.

Chaitanya, good to hear about your interest and passion in teaching. Whatever you said, can you coach

the students for say next 6 to 8 hours without break. If yes, then you can do it. I personally challenged this

to myself and was successful. Regd investment, it depends upon the location and infrastructure you want to

build in. My suggestion, go for rent or leased one till you get comfort

Hi Suresh,

Neded your advise on a home bake that my wife runs from home. We are looking at expanding the business

without the process of setting up physical stores but would prefer the online route.

the products are of the category that have shelf-life and can take the strains of transportation and the USP being

that no additives or preservatives are added- we remain home-bake.

networking sites like FB, Twitter, Google+. You can also use PPC (pay per click) services of Google to

authorities, coches & lot many people, take advertisement of sports related goods & others ….in this portal daily

Srikanth, I will give only one idea which can change your life What are you hobbies. What is your area

of interest. What is that you are passionate about. If some one asks you to do some activity, what is that

you can do without tiredness. I work for an IT company. I was like you thinking of 100 business ideas.

Good Work Mr. Suresh. I had read your articles on Mutual Funds and now this one. I had been doing business

for the past 6 years since April 2007 and I would like to add a few points which may be useful to the readers, I

hope you don't mind.

One can do any business but they must make sure they fulfill these criterias

a) They must have interest in the field in which they are going to start a business. For example: Mr.Suresh you

had mentioned very clearly if somebody asks you to speak about investment for 5 hours, you will do it .. that

must be the interest in the field.

b) Knowledge: It is very important because without knowing the field, you are more certain that you will lose

money.

Srinivas, there is a process to setup any small scale industry in Andhra Pradesh. It would start from

registration of firm, govt. approvals etc., Pls contact any institution like JNTU or small scale institutions

(who generaly provide training and help you in setting up the training). Regd the cost, it would depend on

the size of the business you want to setup

I understand your problem but i just suggest one things becuase you are single mom first you must save

some of your investment for your children so that they can't face any kind of problem.and most save

investment is FDs and Return from property as a rental income..So if you have so much amount please first
