A Day in the Life…

Classroom Schedule 8:00-8:30 – Morning Work8:30-8:45 – Morning Meeting8:55-9:45 – Writer’s Workshop9:45-10:00 – Read Aloud10:00-11:15 – Reader’s Workshop11:20-11:45 – Lunch11:45-12:05 – Recess12:05-1:00 – Math1:00-1:20 – Recess1:20-2:10 – Specials2:15-2:45 – Spelling/Fluency3:00 - Dismissal

Morning Work

• Promotes test taking skills• Graded together• Comes home on Friday

Morning Meeting

• Builds a sense of community• Calendar, Weather, # of School

Days, Time• Share on Friday

Writer’s Workshop

• 15 Minute Mini-Lesson• 20-30 minutes of writing• 5 minutes of share time

• Writing celebrations will be held throughout the year.

Reader’s Workshop

• 15 minute mini-lesson• 20 minutes of reading• 5 minutes of share time

• Guided Reading Groups

Math

• 55 Minutes• Co-Teaching• Whole Class• Groups

Specials

1:20-2:10Split into 3 Groups• Group 1 w/ Mrs. Beemer’s Class• Group 2 w/ Mrs. Ellis’s Class• Group 3 w/ Mrs. Hill’s ClassTennis shoes for PEReturn library books the day before libraryThis is also Mrs. McGraw’s Plan Time!

Spelling

• List will come home on Monday• TEST is on Friday• Each list is unique to your child.

Therefore a note will be required if your child’s list is lost.

Dismissal

• Parents may come inside and wait at the office until dismissed by Mr. Pohren at 2:58 p.m.

• Pick up outside begins at 3:03 p.m. Cars must use Oak St. heading south.

• Any changes (especially bus changes) need to be made by 2:30 p.m.

• We MUST have a note or phone call if your child is to do something different than normal! Please DO NOT email as I don’t always check it before school dismisses. We will not take the student’s word for it!

Visiting

• Buzzer at the Front door• All other doors are locked• Check in at the office for a nametag• If you plan to eat a school lunch,

please call the office by 9.• No pop please!

Field SchoolTitle I

~Title I teachers provide pull-out, push-in, and co-teaching services to provide supplemental language arts instruction. Title I teachers also provide literacy interventions for students at risk of not meeting state standards.

~ Title I teachers at Field School will host parent involvement activities, such as Open House and Literacy Nights.

~ Field School Title I will also have a Parent Advisory Committee comprised of representatives from various classrooms. The committee will provide feedback and offer suggestions for the improvement of Title I programs and materials.

Mystery Reader

• Most Fridays• Sign-Up on board for a date to be

mystery reader

Daily Folders

• Folders will come home every day. • Check for student behavior. Please initial

and return.• The week’s spelling list will be on the very

back pocket of the folder.• Newsletter will go home every Monday.

Home-School Journals

• Comes home most Fridays• Please write a quick note back to

your child• Return on Monday• Great keepsake for years to come!

Homework

• Reading is the only homework• Read 1,000 minutes by the end of the

school year – avg. of 30 minutes/week• We encourages students to read more

than the minimum:• Pizza Hut Book-Its – 150

minutes/month• Special Recognition at end of the year• 2K Club & 3K Club
