Race to raise
£75k in 75 days You may have seen
the incredible news that £150k has been raised towards the
£225k needed to create
Calverley Adventure Grounds. The race is on to raise the
remaining £75k in 75 days and build it, in its entirety,
this summer. If you've been thinking of
ways to show support, now's the time to get in touch!
We are so close! It's an amazing success story (almost) of a com-
munity funded project!

Thank you to 4R and Miss Roberts for their entertaining assembly on ‘Bugs’ last week and to Mrs Amos and 3A for telling us all about the Romans. Thanks to all the parents who a ended.
C ’ SC ’ SC ’ S The roadworks on Connaught Way are causing a huge increase in traffic on Culverden Down and many cars seem re‐luctant to give way to pedestrians at the official crossing point. Several parents have found it almost impossible to cross. Please be pa ent and give way. Some of our children walk and cycle and their safety must also be our primary concern. Thank you

On Thursday 26th January we went on a DT course to Eastbourne College. Upon arrival, we got right down to business. Mr Clover, the man running the course, taught us about bridges and the use of triangula on in structures. He then told us we were to make a bridge using mainly triangles. First we had to design the bridge, drawn to scale. This took a long me. Then we had lunch, followed by a team exercise in which we had to lead a blindfolded person over tables to the end of the room, without touching the floor. A erwards, we began to make our bridges. We did this by cu ng the wooden s cks to scale which we then glued together to make the finished product. A er a lot of hard work, we had almost finished, but our me was up. We brought our bridge back to school to complete and test. It was a great day ‐ thank you to Mr lzzard for organising the trip.

Dear All, We are currently living in a refugee crisis, unseen since the first world war, with approximately 65.3 million people now refugees, seeking asylum, or internally displaced (Help Refugee Charity 2017). With this in mind our mum, Lara, and family are trying to provide vital aid to the refugees who are currently experiencing terrible condi ons, in freezing weather in the camps around Europe. We have been informed by the Help Refugee Charity that the most urgently needed items at present are for men and include socks, neckwear, underwear, gloves and hats. If you would like to help, please click on the link below and buy them a SNUG pack (which includes all 5 items) or, if you prefer, you can choose to buy just one or two items, then select the delivery address stated on our wish list. Individual items range from as li le as £2.26—£7.99 and all five cost £22.69. No purchase is too small!
h ps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wishlist/2T1TK7S8HW8YV/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v Please place your orders by Monday 13th Feb as we will be travelling to the Calais Warehouse at the end of half term. This will allow us me to put the packs together before we travel. The packs will be distributed to the refugee camps in France and Greece. We are hoping to get more than 300+ packs to the refugees. Please help if you can and make a refugee slightly more warm and comfortable during these dark and difficult
mes. Thank you, Joseph Stafford (Y5) and Lily Stafford (Y4)

Y7 ART TRIP TO TONBRIDGE SCHOOL Toy cars. Vintage film projectors. Wooden masks from Mexico and Africa… What do people collect, and why do they do it? Year 7 visited the Old Big School Gallery at Tonbridge School and toured a fascina ng exhibi on en tled “Recollec on: Private Collec ons; from Pencils to Picasso,” which ex‐plores the different ways that objects can hold meaning for people. Some of us were par cularly fascinated by the splendid collec on of Dr Who memorabilia by Old Rose Hillian, Alban Fenn!
