Trained volunteer community advisors: meet one-on-one with every 8th-

and 10th-grade student use student’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP),

EXPLORE/PLAN results to discuss: career aspirations and required education/training whether the student is on target to meet their goals whether student is taking the courses recommended

to prepare them for a successful future Also program will:

provide information to student’s parent on how they can engage in their student’s college/career readiness

KDE recommends districts review their board policies under KRS 160.380 regarding criminal background checks for volunteers and review the requirements of KRS 161.148 to determine whether criminal background checks are required or desired for these volunteers under Kentucky law and their policies.
