GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE
“We Can Do Better Together”Vivat Jesus
Dear Brother Knights,
This year is starting off right. We have already held our first meeting and started talking about a new fund raiser for the fall. You will have to attend the fund raising meeting to find out more about the event.
I am pleased to announce Bob Michaud as the new Chairman as Operation Hope and I hope all of you will lend your support in his upcoming endeavors, remember it is all about the children.
Paul De Rosa and I attend the Grand Knights Mid-Year work shop and will share our updates in the February meeting.
Remember that you became a Knight to make a difference and this is your year to make that happen by getting involved. Paul and I are asking that each of us get involved in one event this year.
I hope to see you all at the February meeting.
God Bless

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
PRAYER
O Almighty and Eternal God, Lord of the Universe, sustain us, we
beseech Thee, o'er the course of "life's tempestuous sea." Keep us,
we pray Thee, secure within the Bark of Peter, ever trustful of
Christ and his Vicars to guide us along the ways of peace and
prosperity. May Jesus, Our Savior, preserve us in the unity of the Holy
Faith and confirm our hopes of sharing its treasures with America.
Send forth the power and love of the Holy Spirit, that we may be blessed in our efforts to set forth Thy glory in this land under the patronage of Mary's Immaculate Conception.
Let our Fraternity flourish in justice and charity and give eternal praise and glory to the Most Holy Trinity. Be mindful of each of our
brothers, departed, and receive them into the haven of eternal
peace. Amen.

THOUGHTS
"Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.
It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections."
The nicest place to be is in someone's thoughts, the
safest place to be is insomeone's prayers, and
the very best place to be is ........in the hands of God.

LOOKING FOR FUTURE OFFICERS TO LEAD OUR
COUNCIL

The next few years will tell if is important to keep the succession of the officers intact. Please consider taking that step towards a commitment for the future of our council. Thank you. 157 Babies Killed in Abortion Every Single Hour
Dear Life News.com Readers,
This week our nation marks 41 years of legalized abortion -- where unborn children are killed in every state in our country.
For most Americans, the 41st anniversary the Supreme Court handed down its decision will be a day to mourn — a day to mourn the loss of tens of millions of unborn children — sons and daughters, brothers and sisters lost to a world that values choice over compassion. It will be a day to mourn the damage abortion does to women — the medical problems, the mental health

issues, the damaging of relationships with friends and family, and the destruction of relationships with God.
Since that fateful day in 1973, there have been an estimated 56,662,169 abortions.
Each abortion is more than just a number -- it's a tiny baby whose life was snuffed out and a mother injured in the process. Each abortion is a father who will ever experience the joy of holding his baby, watching his son play on the high school football team or watching his daughter graduate from college.
If you run the math on those terrible figures, the numbers are absolutely chilling:
1.382 million Abortions every year115,167 abortions every month26,577 abortions every week3,786 abortions every day157 abortions every hour2.6 abortions every minute
These numbers may break your heart but they have no effect on the mainstream media, the Obama administration and Planned Parenthood and its friends in the abortion industry worldwide.
They don't want to be held accountable for this travesty -- but Life News will.
Every day at Life News, we report pro-life news and carry opinion and analysis columns that challenge the abortion mindset. Life News exposes the abortion industry and we highlight moving stories that show a respect for human life. For almost 22 years on the Internet, Life News has spotlighted pro-life efforts large and small to change the law and change hearts and minds.Already this year, as Life News reported, two abortion clinics have closed! Will you help us this year to expand that success and stop those abortion numbers from climbing as fast?

“THE NATIONS TRADEGY”
The Cause of Venerable Michael J. McGivneyThe process of “saint making,” more properly called the process for canonization, is normally long and complex.
In 1997, Archbishop Daniel A. Cronin of Hartford, Conn., opened Fr. McGivney’s cause for canonization. Dominican Fr. Gabriel B. O’Donnell was named the postulator, or promoter, of the cause.
Over the next three years, in collaboration with the Knights of Columbus and the archdiocese, Fr. O’Donnell and others compiled the historical record of Fr. McGivney’s life and works.
Some 700 pages of documentation—called “the acts”—were presented to Archbishop Cronin in March 2000. He attested to their authenticity and entrusted them to Fr. O’Donnell. That same month, Fr. O’Donnell conveyed the acts to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints at the Vatican. The Congregation for the Causes of Saints soon attested that the Church’s norms had been successfully met in this initial diocesan phase of the process toward sainthood.
The Congregation for the Causes of Saints appointed a relator, or advocate, to work with Fr. O’Donnell in the writing of the positio, or extended argument, for Fr. McGivney’s canonization.
The positio is nearly 1,000 pages in two volumes, one Fr. McGivney’s biography, the other an essay on his spirituality. The volume on spirituality is organized around his life of virtue. The biography is based on text prepared for the cause by Christopher Kauffman, professor of American Church history at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and author of two books on the history of the Knights of Columbus.
The positio was presented to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in January 2002.
On June 30, 2000, the diocesan phase of the investigation into a reported miraculous cure attributed to Fr. McGivney’s intercession was completed. That report was also conveyed to the congregation, where it unrewent strict review. One miracle is required for beatification, at which time Fr. McGivney would be declared “Blessed.” Another miracle after that declaration is required for canonization or sainthood.
The important work of guiding the reported miracle through the process of approval by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints belongs to the postulator of the cause. Often, such a process requires additional information on medical terms and procedures from the locale where the reported miracle occurred.
The postulator should be present in Rome to be available to collaborate with the Congregation. In order to make this possible, the Knights of Columbus, the chief sponsor of the cause of Venerable Fr. Michael McGivney, appointed a new postulator, Dr. Andrea Ambrosi, to handle the cause. Fr. Gabriel B. O’Donnell will become the vice-postulator in the United States.
On the eve of Palm Sunday, March 15, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI approved a decree recognizing the heroic virtue of Fr. Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. The papal declaration was a major step that significantly advances the process towards sainthood and gives Fr. Michael the distinction of being regarded as “Venerable Servant of God.
In December 2011, Brian Caulfield, a communications specialist in the executive office of the Supreme Knight, who holds a master degree in Theology was appointed as second Vice Postulator. His charge is to promote the Cause in the Philippines, where it is hoped that a miracle will come through the intercession of Fr. McGivney.
