Greetings to all our parents and families,
Whanaungatanga
This week’s Matipo value is Whanaungatanga: Positive and meaningful
relationships with our friends, kaiako, whanau & community.
Here are some ways that our Matipo students have told us that they can
show Whanaungatanga:
● Being kind to friends and family
● Always have a positive mindset
● Let the teacher know if you are struggling
● Teamwork always helps
● Having a positive attitude around other people
● Say good morning to the teacher
Te Atatū Foodbank Foodbank donates food to families that struggle to get it themselves. Lately, there hasn’t been enough food to give out. There are collection bins at Countdown supermarket, unfortunately, some people have been throwing rubbish such as apple cores, candy bar wrappers, and other types of rubbish into the collection bins. We need your help to donate proper food that will last long, such as; Canned food items, and boxed foods like pasta and rice. The Tamariki Council would like to suggest that each class set up a collection box in class, where students can donate food items. Thank you in advance for your generosity. By Archie and Harley - on behalf of the Tamariki Council, being and doing whanaungatanga More Professional Development Currently two of our Teacher Aides are fitting in part time University study to become teachers. We really value the collaboration and commitment of Karen, Sophie, Sumbal, Janna, Trish, Robin, Vicki, Frances, Kelly and Rose who all contribute to student wellbeing and learning across a wide range of needs and areas of expertise. They are all so awesome.

Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud
Dear students,
There has been SOOOOOOOO many people who at the end of the day don’t even look like
people anymore. More like chocolate bars. And those chocolate bars do not look yum. We are
not pigs. We don’t use mud for sunscreen. We use sunscreen for sunscreen. Why do we even
need to use sunscreen right now? It's more rainy than sunny. This mud is disgusting. It’s
horrible. I don’t even know how to describe it. Just please
please PLEASE PLEASE!!!!! Just stop playing in the mud.
From Ruby P.
Warning: Mud!
Uhh, how do we put this... WE ARE NOT HIPPOS, WE ARE
HUMANS! It is a disgrace to see human beings plastered with mud looking like stones. Around
the senior playground, there are people throwing mud like bullets at each other. This makes it
hard for other children to play on the senior playground, so please tell your children to stop.
Also in the fairy gardens the rain has made gigantic mud puddles up to people's knees. Mr
Wright would like you to pack spare clothes and stay out of the muddy areas as we have
already asked. At this time of year when it's WINTER all fields are closed when it’s been raining.
I know it's sad but get over it. It will be summer again soon.

Movie Review:
JAMES BOND - GOLDENEYE, by Szymek
007 GOLDENEYE is a really good movie about James Bond.
The hero, because movies always have a hero, is played by
Pierce Brosnan. I enjoyed this movie and think it is great
because I think it was the most cool movie I've watched about
James Bond 007. I like it because it had a good storyline and
awesome action. I don’t like the music but the whole movie
was so cool.
I hope you will enjoy this movie too.
This is the best watch that James Bond ever had but if you want it you need $7000!
