(1) During the period 26 July to 30 July the 1st MariMa >Jere opposed by the 407th Regiment, 136th Division, 46th COF Army, The 407th Regiment, was disposed with its 1st Battalion to the east, an unidentified battalion to the west, and an unidentified battalion in reserve vicinity of the CT 0509 grid square, The extreme left of the regimental front wes in contact ";·lith one b!l.ttalion of the 40Sth Rcgi...-nent, 136th Division ;..rhile friendly units in the extreme right sector were in contact with elements of the 137th Division, 46th CCF Army,
·(2) The enemy «~Played an elnstie type of defense on mutually supporting key terrain features, deploying his forces in great de~th. Each enemy defensive position was generally characterized by a deep periMeter type trench system which connected a eerie! or automatic weapons po~itioned to cover by fire all avenues of anpl"'ach, Security r..ro.s maintained b~r establishing outpost, listening posts, and active patrolling,
(3) Enemy activity during tbe period 26 - 'J'! July was characterized by a continuation of platoon-sized attacks against the 119 Hill oositions (CT OS407S) and the 111 Hill area (CT 098091.), These i.\ttacks >rere sup'>orted by heav:r artillery ~nd mortar concentrations. Sightings of the ene~y were numerous, especie.lly in the V.EX.htS and Bl!:RLIN sectors r.nd the enemy m..1.intalned an aggressive counter-reconnaissance screen '..mile continuing to imDrove present positions.
b, Friendly Situation
(1) As the period opened the 1st M"-rinos oontin'-lod to o<:CU"Y I Coros Reserve Area and conduct intensive training designed to i~~rove ~round and amphibious offensive combat.
On S July, let Marinos passed into Division Reserv~ -'lnd continued to carr,y out ~n intensive training progrBm designed to increase combat potential.
On 26 July, lst Narines took over operational control of th" right MLR regim~ntA.l S(!ctor of the Divieion sector.. At 13.30!_, lst Mr.rines assumed responsibility of the assigned sector, On 30 July, lst Marines oassed responsibility for MLR sector to the 5th Marinos and at the some time asoumed mission of Division Reserve,

3. General Situation
The let Marines simulates that it is the right MLR regiment of the Present l:t ~~rinc Division aector, ~~th 1st and 2nd Battalions on the line, lst Battalion ·on the.-lef't. 3rd Battalion in regimenta1·reserve. (1) Veri!fing the etat~s of supp~y in all cluases (I, I!, !II, IV,
and V).
(2) Coordination of the ligistioal effort, i,e,, motor transport,
engineer, ordnance, sanitation_. enba:rkation, mess, salvage, including
requests therefore and allooation of such requests.
(3) Supervi:sion uf ths KSC•a attached to t~e Regi~nt~
(4) Preparation and submission or such reports as are directed by
higher authority~
(5) Verifying the status of the routes of supply.
