Destined to Triumph

A Convention to Remember - anaheim, ca 2010

A Time to Embrace

It was the prayers. It had to have been the prayers! Pastors, ministers and faithful Apostolic Assembly members were praying and fasting for the Lord to bless our LIV General Convention 2010. Many were the reports of churches organizing days of fasting and prayer, plus brothers and sisters, especially our beloved seniors who found time to fall on their faces and seek God’s approval and blessings. And bless He did!

Upon walking into the Hilton Hotel, one could sense the anticipation and expectation felt in the heart of God’s people. From the greetings at the registration desk to the seminars, meetings, banquets and services – everything had God’s hand upon it.

It was pleasant to see the warm fellowship, the fraternal embraces, and the eagerness with which we all arrived Back to Anaheim. It was like coming home after being away for a long time. However, it was not only the beautiful City of Anaheim that made this convention memorable, it was primarily the spirit of peace that reigned over all of the events. There was serenity and a calmness that can only come from our Lord Jesus Christ.

That is why we must say: “Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.” Psalms 115:1 Our hearts are thankful for his faithfulness and his goodness.

I know that pastors and members alike returned to their home churches filled with this same peace, an inspired heart and a desire to begin a new season of work. We truly are destined to triumph. We have awakened to, embraced and celebrated this great destiny in Christ our Lord.

Now it is time to double our efforts, work with purpose and intelligence and continue seeking God’s presence because without Him, we can do nothing!

Blessings!

PRESIDENT’S LETTER

November, 2010

A THREE-FOLD CORD“...and a three fold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12

“…Now it was time to hear the word of God, and without further hesita-tion, President Elect Samuel Valverde shared the title of his message with the audience: “A Three-fold Cord.” In his message that night the speaker explained that the Apostolic Assembly has been called to “Exalt Christ, Equip the Church and Evangelize the World.” The President shared his heart stating: “It is time to raise up an army, it is time to go forward and conquer. It is time to be filled with the Holy Ghost. I challenge you to ask yourself. ‘when am I going to impact this world?’” He added, “Do you want to know how to be blessed? First, serve God during the week

and then expect your blessing on Sunday!” Later in the message the preacher exhorted the pastors to return to their churches to seek a personal vision for their own House, one that would help them reach their own communities. “During this time,” mentioned the President, “many of us leaders are educating ourselves. That is good, but it is also necessary to put the books aside and fall on our faces to seek the presence of God.” At the end of the message on this final day of convention, President Valverde spoke directly to the apostolic people and said: “It is time to embrace our destiny. It is time to embrace our doctrine, our hymnology and it is time to embrace one another again.” At the conclusion of the message the

President invited current and former General Board Members to the platform and embraced them, encouraging them to embrace each other. The Spirit of God then filled the entire auditorium with love and hope. The message was clear and powerful. It is time to heal and embrace our destiny as the church of God. For what we learned and

experienced at this General Convention, the participants were inspired to return to their churches to achieve much more, because the Apostolic Assembly is indeed “Destined to Triumph.”
