Reynolds Market and the Shops at Fox Run are excited to host the 12th Annual Parade of Trees Auction on Saturday November 29th at 4:00PM as part of their Winter Wonder-land Celebration.
The Parade of Trees is a unique fundraising opportunity and an anticipated community event where individuals and businesses donate decorated Christmas Trees and wreaths to be auctioned off. All pro-ceeds from the auction will be distributed between the Boys and Girls Club, Family Resource Center and the Sid-
Professionals of America; together, the organizations are coordinating the familiar fundraiser with new ideas.
The Parade of Trees has traditionally been held in downtown Sidney and the auction has taken place during the Christmas Stroll the day after Thanksgiving. This year, in addition to the change of venue, a limited number of items will be accepted and the decorating time has been moved back.
Unlike previous years, only decorated trees and wreaths will be accepted and there is a limit of 60 items to be auctioned. Entry forms can be picked up at District II Alcohol and Drug or at the Customer Service Desk at Reynolds Market and anyone needing an electrical outlet should contact Libby Berndt at Reynolds to reserve a space, 406-433-2305. Participants are encouraged to have their entry forms submitted to Reyn-olds Market by November 15th; trees can be set up and wreaths dropped off Saturday the 15th through Tuesday the 25th. The week of November 23rd, Christmas Trees will be on display at Reynolds while the wreaths will be displayed throughout the Shops at Fox Run and the community is invited to preview and bid on
but a silent auction bid sheet will be located with each item; the auction will be held at 4:00 pm in Reynolds and will close
-land Celebration.
Winter Wonderland ac-tivities will begin at 11:00 am on the 29th and include pony
horse drawn wagon rides around the grounds. Santa will make his entrance at noon and kids can have their pictures taken with him from 1-3pm at Reynolds.

Petitions Presented at Fairview School Board Meeting
Petitions signed by 270 individuals were presented to the Fairview school board last Tuesday night, asking for the rein-statement of principal Reuben Moreno.
On September 10, Moreno was placed on paid adminis-trative leave by superintendent Kloker citing insubordination. Following disagreements with the head football coach, Moreno had given a verbal resignation as assistant football coach on September 5. At the regular school board meeting on Septem-ber 9, he asked to rescind that resignation, which was denied.
Board chair Randy Skov allowed approximately 10 minutes for public comment. Questions and comments concerning theplacement of principal Moreno on administrative leave included disruption to the students, as well as the effects on principal
that it was a clear cut deal, that it was done, and asked the public
had not read the letter from Kloker to Moreno.A concern was also raised about the school paying for
continuing education for 6 employees, which was not addressed.-
the placement of principal Moreno on administrative leave. In a telephone interview, Dennis Palmer, deputy superin-
that since the action is a labor issue, there are no rules that govern schools. He stated that typically a school board would need to meet in either a regular or special meeting at whichtime the board would take the action of placing someone on administrative leave. Only the school board has the authority
is also a decision typically made by the trustees since they are
of trustees giving power to the superintendent to make those decisions, he said it is abdicating their own authority as trustees to do so, since that also gives the superintendent authority togovern his own actions.
The next Fairview school board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 9 in the boardroom.

McKenzie County Food Pantry Helping Those in Need
It is once again that time of year! The holidays are upon us; with them comes the spirit of giving, time with family and friends, and giving to people in the community. The Salvation Army is in need of families, businesses, individuals and people of all ages to ring the Salvation Army Christmas bells and give back a little this holiday season. Our local Salvation Army is headed up by
amazing team of volunteers, and the Salvation Army organiza-
know about. The Salvation Army provides emergency housing assistance, some food assistance, clothing, transportation assis-tance and links to other services that provide to those in need. All of the proceeds from this event stay in Richland County. The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Sidney is always busy and theproceeds from sales go to assisting locals in need.
The Christmas Bell ringing is one of the most important times of the year for the Salvation Army in that much of thefunding that supports the organization and people in need comes from this event. Last year the Bell Ringing made $7,585.20 for the Salvation Army and this year we would like to exceed that.To add a different element to the Salvation Army bell ringing, RSVP will be assisting Salvation Army in procuring volunteers and donations by doing a new Grinch fundraiser. The idea will
past in Richland County, but to move the Grinch you donate 25dollars, which will go to the RSVP Department to support vol-unteers and participation in community events, or you provide volunteers to ring the bells. After the kick off at the ChristmasStroll on November 28th, bell ringing will be held at IGA and Reynolds until December 20th. Ringing the bell is a great way
better way to get in the holiday spirit then spending time with family and friends and raising money for a great cause. Any
up for a shift at 406-433-2207.

Submitted by Richland Shrine ClubRichland Shrine Club of Sidney is starting its 2015 Shrine
Hospital Fund drive. The overhead of the direct mail campaign; envelopes, postage, etc. are furnished by the Richland Shrine Club. Last year we gathered $9,946.33 and sent that same amount to the Shrine Hospital.
Richland Shrine Club is currently sponsoring many pa-tients in various stages of their treatment. The typical patient makes several trips to the hospital in Spokane, Salt Lake City or Minneapolis. The average hospital stay is seven to eight days, but surgery and/or treatment may be over several years to accommodate growth of the child.
The SHRINE operates 22 pediatric hospitals, which in-cludes 19 orthopedic hospitals to help children with problems of the bones, joints or muscles and 3 Burns Institutes for children needing reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation as a result of burn injuries.
Since 1922, Shrine Hospitals for Crippled Children have been helping children, regardless of race, creed or color. The Majority of the support of the Hospitals for patient treatment and
research is by the Shriners, Endowment fund, and charitable fund-raising events by Shriners and Shrine Clubs. This Hospital Fund Drive is only one of many types of projects throughout North America by Shriners. Currently through the benevolence of Shriners and other Masonic bodies two million dollars per day is going towards various Philanthropic endeavors, such as our hospitals.

2015 Wheat Show Hi-LitesSubmitted by Warren Froelich
NDSU Extension Agent - Williams CountyThe 62nd Annual National Hard Spring Wheat Show will
focus on a variety of issues but much emphasis will be given to strategies of preventing Fusarium head blight (SCAB) and
and vomitoxin. These issues will be discussed by Dr. Senay Simsek of the Northern Crops Institute, NDSU Crop Quality Specialist and Grain Marketers.
Another hot issue on the agenda is grain transportation. Dan Wogsland, Executive Director of the Northern Grain Grow-ers Association will give us the latest details on efforts to bring balance to get grains to milling and export destinations.
Consumer issues including gluten intolerance and food
varieties and crop salinity tolerances. The keynote speaker is Dr. Mike Boehlje of Purdue Univer-
sity. One of his presentations will focus on a possible cyclical downturn of agriculture income. He is concerned about the fall or a possible decline in exports due to the decline of economic
growth in China and India. He also feels farmers can expect interest rates to rise steadily during the balance of the decade. The U.S. farmers export products equal to approximately 25% of their income.
The world has put more land under the plow and he feels this and other factors could cause agricultural land values to drop as much as 15%.
Of course during his three-hour presentation Dr. Boehlje
production decisions in the near future.During the Williams County Farmers Union luncheon
attendees will learn how they can easily be advocates of the business of farming. Also, the Williams County Farmers Union has secured a great speaker who will talk, sing, and make us laugh and cry. This presentation by Mark J. Lindquist is titled “Passion! 8 Steps to Find Yours”.
The “Trade Show”, photo contest, and Bread Fair for area 5th grade students will continue as in the past. Watch for more details, as I will bring them to your attention in future weekly columns.
