COLLECTING CHILDREN AT THE END OF THE DAY
All children who are being collected at the end of the day at either 3:20pm (Reception) or 3:30pm
(Year1—Year6) should be collected from the front playground. Teachers will only release a child once they
have made eye contact with the collecting adult. Please can we ask that parents wishing to speak to a teacher,
wait until all children in the class have been released. If parents require a longer conversation, please arrange
a meeting with the teacher before / after school. This is to ensure that teachers can release children to their
parents/carers safely without being distracted. We understand that some parents wait at the bottom of the
playground due to the high number of parents in the area at this time of the day, however can we ask that
you make your way towards the class teacher when you see him/her, so that they can acknowledge you before
releasing your child. Thank you for your support.

We have developed a pen-pal link with a
small school in the Auvergne region in the
heart of France. We have already received our first set
of short letters and a range of year groups from across
Ryders Hayes are in the process of replying.
We hope this link will deepen our cultural understanding
of France and that the children will enjoy
comparing and contrasting their lives to
those of children of similar ages elsewhere in
the world.

In RE this week, Year 3 have started to investigate the Easter Story. We explored
the symbolic values of bread and wine (orange juice in school). In our Roman
topic, we have made timelines and looked at how a roman soldier would have
dressed.
Following our exciting Science assembly on Tuesday, Year 4 have been writing recounts about the experience. We
enjoyed the experiments, particularly the one involving toilet roll and a leaf blower! In Me in My World this week we
have been discussing all of the different rules we have in our lives and why it is important to follow them.
All children in Years 3 and 4 should now have their login details for PurpleMash. If your child does not have theirs, or
they have any issues logging on, please speak to your child’s class teacher. Children have all been set a piece of
homework to complete, for Year 3 they have been challenged to label a Roman soldier and Year 4 need to research
and present information about a volcano of their choice.
Year 1 and 2 have had a fantastic week! We were entertained in assembly on Tuesday by a
scientist who taught us lots about science and showed us some amazing experiments.
We have also dressed up as our favourite characters for World Book Day on
Thursday. Thanks to parents for supporting
your children and helping them to look their
very best!
Also a reminder about the Purple Mash
competition….don’t forget to get you entries in
before Friday 18th March.
Years 5 and 6 Purple Mash: Don’t forget the competition entries need to be
in by Friday 18th March. Both year groups have enjoyed this week: being entertained by the
Mad Scientist, Rick Radium on Tuesday. The children are producing some writing from this
show. World Book Day
All the children and staff came dressed as various book characters on
Thursday and really got into the spirit of
World Book Day!
Book Busters Quiz: Year 6 completed a class quiz on Thursday ready for Book Busters; the successful chil-
dren taking part next Tuesday are: Amelia, Katie, Baden, Jack, Charlie, Libby, Erin, Mia. Reserves are Elise
and Niamh. A final team of four will be chosen after next Tuesday.
