In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I took conventions from various issues of Vibe, as there was a number of things that caught my eye that I personally think would attract a young audience being young myself. I have picked the issue I referred to the most during making my own music magazine.

BarcodeThe barcode is positioned in left hand corner of the page it also has the price and website with it.

Cover ImageThe four ladies are dressed very seductively and pose very flirtatious as well. They are attracting an audience of all gender.

MastheadThe masthead is the logo that Vibe uses, its name. A vibrant pink font colour stands out on the crystal white background.

Rule of thirdsThis issue of Vibe does not follow the rule of thirds on its cover which is quite unconventional.

“Sexy issue” has been layered on the logo and masthead to show it is a special edition issue and to spice it up a little.

StraplineThere is no strapline for the magazine, instead they use banners which refer to articles in the magazine. This is positioned above the masthead.

HeadlineThe headline relates the models in the cover image. It’s the second biggest font size after the masthead/logo. Text (font, size, colour etc.)

There are three text colours: grey, black and pink which coordinate with the models outfits well. The text are of all different size, leading, horizontal and tracking scales.I believe all the fonts are the same but they have just been manipulated to look different.

AdvertisementThere are no adverts on the cover as they are all included within the magazine which makes up for none on the front.

AlignmentThe text on the left had side of the page has been aligned to the left, whilst the text of the right hand side of the page has been aligned to the right.

StraplineThere is no strapline for the magazine, instead I also used a banners which refer to the main celebrity in the magazine (Nicki Minaj). I positioned this above the masthead.
