newsletter 19th May 2017
Thank you to everyone who supported our Prayer Space in
school day on Monday. We had a fantastic day and every-
one who took part enjoyed the experience. A special note
of thanks to the TOM team and Rev John and Vanessa from
Bishop Auckland Methodist Church. We look forward to
welcoming Rev John to lead our worship in the near future.
Stars of the Week
Reception: Liam H for excellent effort and wonderful work!
Year 1: Joey R for wonderful ideas or our acrostic about worms—good thinking!
Year 2: Jack B for working very hard on his reading.
Year 3: Jacob R for being Scientist of the Year! & Max P for fantastic science diagrams!
Year 4: Harry for a fantastic written argument!
Year 5: Will T for amazing work on fractions!
Year 6: Molly G for always having a smile on her face, no matter what the challenge.
On Thursday, Year 4 welcomed a Roman visitor called Claudia. She introduced herself and said, ‘Salve’ which is Latin for ‘Hello’. Throughout the morning, she told us about Roman clothes, the army and typical home life. She even brought in ancient artefacts for us to look at! We handed round swords, helmets, chainmail armour and a HUGE curved shield! Some people got to try on the costumes too!
Overall, we found out many interesting facts ready to start our topic next week. For example did you know that, if a woman left the house without covering her head using a palla, she would be divorced by her husband! So although it was really interesting, we’re quite glad that we didn’t live in the Roman times!
