FANS:Kids, Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to beautiful Labatt Park.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the game and the excellent surroundings before you.We, the London Majors, would like to take this opportunity to
thank Mr. Bob Neskas and Mr. Ted Bogal for their leadership and direction in making this facility available to us.But, folks, there is one man that has taken a personal interest in
making this baseball field what it is, “The Best Baseball Diamond in our League” and undoubtedly one of the very best in all Canada. That man is Mr. Mike Regan. The Majors extend to you, Mike, a very special thank you.The London Majors are very appreciative to a man, to the P.U.C.,
and the City of London and are proud to call Labatt Park home.Enjoy the game.

MIKE RODRIGUES CoachHometown: Tijuana, Mexico Residence: LondonAs a youth Mike lived only a stone’s throw away from Labatt Park, a geographical point-of-interest which probably played a part in his love for baseball. A pitcher by trade, Mike aids manager McKay in controlling the Majors pitching ranks.

BARRY WHITE CoachBarry is new to the coaching ranks for the Majors, but not new to baseball in London. A solid sports background in baseball and hockey dating back to the early ’50s when he chased bats for the Majors, Barry’s knowledge and enthusiasm will be most welcome in 1984.

FERGIE JENKINSHt. 6'6" Wt. 210Hometown: Chatham Residence: BleinhamWithout picking up a baseball again Fergie Jenkins has already secured himself a place in Baseball’s Hall of Fame. The players and fans of the Intercounty League are very fortunate to have a player of his stature to learn from and applaud. Thanks Fergie!
JON OWENHt. 6’2” Wt. 195Hometown: Liverpool, Eng. Residence: LondonThe Majors’ pitching leader in three important categories last season: wins 6; innings pitched 283; strikeouts 48. In addition to Jon’s fastball, batters must also contend with his famed ‘fork ball’, a pitch taught to him by MacComb, Mississippi hurler Billy Wallace.
MIKE PATTERSONHt. 6’ Wt. 175Hometown: Dorchester, Ont. Residence: LondonThis hard throwing sidewinder is the Majors best two- way pitching asset. Not only one of the league’s finest relief pitchers, Mike is also a solid starting pitcher. Second only to Jon Owen in innings pitched for the Majors last year, Mike is a durable individual who seems to improve as his workload increases.
STEVE GOMOLAHt. 6'2” Wt. 190Hometown: Grand Rapids, Mich. Residence: London Returning to the pitching staff for a second year, the Majors are looking for a good season from this Michigan native. Although registering only 2 decisions in ’83 due to an injury, his fine ERA helped to keep London’s cumulative total the lowest in the league.

TOM MATTINGLEYHt. 6’2” Wt. 190 B-R, T-RHometown: Sarnia Residence: LondonSupplying most of London’s right-handed batting power, Tom Mattingley is a calm, collected performer. A high school teacher at Parkside Collegiate in St. Thomas, Tom enjoys his freedom to play ball during the summer.
DAVE BYERSHt. 6'3" Wt. 210 B-L T-RHometown: Dorchester, Ont. Residence: London1983’s Inter-County All-star shortstop returns to the Majors again in ’84. Dave’s ability to combine average and power at the plate make him one of the greatest offensive threats in the London lineup. On the field, his fiery determination help lead the way for both rookies and veterans.
ALEX McKAY B-L, T-RHt. 6’Wt. 180Hometown: Thamesford Residence: LondonAl is returning for his 10th year as a London Major, he’ll be taking a rare holiday in the summer this year as he and Melissa, the southern belle he swooned north after their university days, are tying the proverbial knot in mid-July. Best wishes to you both.
CHUCK WESTMANHt. 6’Wt. 165 B-R, T-RHometown: Iona Station Residence: London1984 will be Chuck’s second year with the Majors. He is an adept outfielder whose speed should provide some base running excitement.

JUST A LITTLE BOYHe stands at the plat with heart pounding fast. The bases are loaded; the die has been cast.Mom and Dad cannot help him; he stands all alone.A hit at this moment would send the team home. The ball meets the plate; he swings and he misses. There’s a groan from the crowd, with some boos and some hisses.A thoughtless voice cries: ‘Strike out the bum’.Tears fill his eyes; the game’s no longer fun.So open your heart and give him a break. For it’s moments like this, a man you can make.Keep this in mind when you hear someone forget. He’s just a little boy, and not a man yet.

WAYNE FENLONWt. 6’ Wt. ? B-L T-RHometown: London, Ont. Residence: RidgetownMany of London’s pitching successes overthe past 15 years can be directly attributed to catcher Wayne Fenlon, and it hasn’t been any accident. Four managers over this time span have found #9 to be their choice behind the dish. Still an excellent hitter and great teacher, the Majors are extremely lucky to have ‘THE DOG’ on their side this year.
ARDEN EDDIE T-L B-RHt. 6’ Wt. 190Hometown: Wallceburg Residence: LondonWorking just as hard off the field as he does during a game, Arden is known as ‘Steinbrenner’ around the Majors' clubhouse. Dedication to the constant improvement of the London Majors has proven to be a very taxing but rewarding experience. Best of luck in '84 Arden, both on and off the field.
JOHN FARAGHERHt. 6’ Wt. 180 T-L B-RHometown: Uranium City Residence: LondonHard-hitting Faragher is also a versatile fielder in this, his second season with the Majors. In addition to his outfield duties, he can also pitch and play first base. John also holds the London & District Baseball record forthe longest home run; some445ft. on June14,1981 against Arva.
LARRY HAGGITT B-L T-RHt. 6’ Wt. 220Hometown: Rip City Residence: LeamingtonLarry is a solid left-handed hitter who rarely gets cheated on his swings when he ‘digs in’ at home plate. On the infield, Larry picks up the toughest throws with no apparent effort making everyone look good.
