Chemistry: Fr. Ernest P. Bertin, S.J., has received a postdoctoral research appointment for one year at the University of Notre Dame's Radiation Laboratory.
English: Dr. David A. Downes, Assistant Professor; wrote "The Hopkins Enigma" for Thought XXXV! (1961) 573-594.
History: Albert B. Mann, Instructor in History; Danforth Teacher Study Grant for 1962-63.
Mathematics: Dr. Burnett R. Toskey, Assistant Professor has published "Ordered Products of Rings" in Journal fur die Reine und Angewandte Mathernatik, 209, 34:163-166 (March 1962) and is the author of College Algebra, A Modern Approach to be published by Addison-Wesley Publishing Company, Inc. (Boston) on September 1, 1962.
Mr. Andre Yandl, Assistant Professor, has been awarded a National Science Faculty Fellowship for 1962-63. He will do advanced studies in mathematics at the University of Washington.
Psychology: Fr. Louis B. Gaffney, S. J., Associate Professor is President-elect of the Washington State Psychological Association. Fr. Gaffney was also named one of 18 Inter-Denominational Semi-nar Leaders to conduct seminars in Religion and Mental Health for the Chaplains' Service of the United States Army, July 1, 1962-June 30, 1963.
Fr. James E. Royce, S. J., Professor and Head of the Psychology Department has been elected secretary of the Seattle Chapter of the Academy of Religion and Mental Health.
James T. Reilly, Assistant Professor, was elected president of the Puget Sound Psychological Asso-ciation.
