The single largest technical gain in eight years has just occurred.
Anyone can be cleared by engram running.
A new style of auditing has had to be developed to handlethe explosive power of the new Scientology methods of handlingDianetic engrams.
Shades of Book One! Whoever would have thought that engram running could be improved as much as it has been improved in the past three months.
To make engram running possible, twelve new TRs havehad to be developed.
There are now three styles of auditing: Tone 40, Formaland Engram Auditing. The first two are quite adequate to clearfifty percent of cases. It takes a new approach to get enoughlocks off the rocks of the remaining fifty percent to get themclear too.
I've been busy, busy, ~~. I had the largest ACC everheld in the world during October and November. And I had theluck in research to put us on a new plateau of stable clearing.
I asked the ACC Instructors, "What shall we do aboutAmerica?" They were just about knocked to pieces trainingthe British to handle the double-dynamite of modern engrams. But they said, "Somehow we I ve got to get in everybody we canto the January '59 ACC in Washington. We've got to get thisdata out. "
So we're doing it in a Congress on the 3rd and 4th of January in D. C., and the 21st American ACC following.
Look, it's no promotion talk. It just can't be said hardenough. We're made it! We're shot through the last barrier. We've got it and a new society made.
, We've worked hard. Welre willing to work harder. Butwe need help. I want to drop some coal on the fire and get theshow on the road, I need people who can do this. I can show

- NEW HGC PROCESS -
itA New Straight Wire"
There is a new process being used in HGC. It is
ARC Break Straight Wire.
This process belongs after S-C-S and Factual Havingnessand before What Can You Confront.
ARC Break Straight Wire is a form of Tr-5 ARC Break. Its processing number, however, is CCH-50. .
Any and all rules governing Straight Wire apply, including
(a) The preclear cycles into the past and back to presenttime. Therefore, ask and pin point when.
(b) Stop the process only with the preclear near presenttime. Put in a bridge, therefore, without specified number of"more times". Wrong. -- "I am going to ask this questionthree more times and end the process. II Right -- "I am goingto ask this question until. your answers are ~lose to presenttime and then end it if that's all right with you. II Then checkwhen on each reply, get preclear into present time and say,"Are you near present time? All right, this is the enqof theprocess. II
The Command to a Scientologist is, "Recall an ARCBreak". This is for an unlimited type process. IIRecal1 anARC Break between us" or II ••• in an auditing session" or" ..• with your mother" to limit process to this life. Thefirst form is preferred. The second form. is used on a stickyvalence that has been isolated.
The unlimited version rapidly dives for whole track and into engrams. This is all right. But donlt stop and change theprocess. Just continue to run, "Recall an ARC Break" whenthe preclear gets into heavy weather.
Be very careful with this process to keep the Auditor'sCode. Otherwise, 500/0 of the tim.e is spent getting rid of ARCBreaks in the session itself -- and with this process these are
7heavy. (However" two auditors co-auditing who are a bit clumsycan use this process better than other processes and it andFactual Havingness should be the total activity of an auditor whois having trouble with a preclear who is having trouble withARC Breaks.
The preclear, in diving for whole track, gets into and outof heavy incidents. So long as he answers the question, fine.Don't let him fail to answer every question.
Reality on the whole track leaps up with this process. Thisis the first process that accotnplishes this easily.
In running it, retnember that the overt act is as importantas the motivator (see: A History of Man, Chap. 9). The reasonA gets mad at B is as often because A has done something to Bas it is because B has done something to A.
Here is a fine, smooth process that is a one-shot Clear, and can be used by auditors not ACC-trained to run engram.s.
ARC Break Straight Wire is very useful in husband-wife coauditing teams and, with Factual Havingness, is the only process that should be used in a co-auditing relationship that is already intimate to a point of easily gathering ARC Breaks.
From two standpoints the process is the best we have everhad
(a) It handles touchy preclears well, and(b) It is the fir st to open up whole track in general with as
great a reality or greater than the R on present life.
From two other viewpoints the process is vulnerable:
(a) It requires strict observance of the Auditor's Code ifyou don't want to waste 500/0 to 750/0 of the auditing time.
(b) It runs the preclear into heavy incidents and the process tnust be continued until the preclear is again in presenttime -- making an uncertainty in session timing.
However, the shortcom.ings are far outweighed by the valueof ARC Break Straight Wire.
There is one "bug H in the process. The non-Scientologistdoes not'readily grasp the comtnand -- and there is no substitutefor a quick question.
ARC Break means "The assignment of responsibility for a

sudden drop in Affinity, Reality or Communication." Thee andme have a "feel" for this.
Substitute commands are many, none as goodo "Recallsomething you have done to a person" - "Recall something thathas been dC?ne to you" is fair but misses by a mile.
History: This process is, in genus, very old. I introduc-edits rudiments at the June 1952 first Congress in Phoenix, Ariz.ARC is even older and goes to July of 1950. The present version in a narrower form was first used by Mary Sue Hubbardin 1958.
The valuable lesson this gives us is that Mary or Joe orPete m.ay be m.ad at us because Mary or Joe or Pete did something to us. We mayor may not have done anything to Maryor Joe or- Pete to make them mad at us. In other words, thepreclear who comes back into session furious with the auditor, may have committed an overt act against the auditor out of session and not prompted by an action of the auditor. The wifemay be mad at the husband because of _something she did to thehusband. She talked about him behind his back (prompted bysome old engram about husbands) and, now having committedthis overt act, she becomes furious with the husband. Etc.Etc. The person mad at Scientology may only be motivated byhaving done something ~Scientology. Etc. Etc. A whole newview of human behavior opens when you see this point. Therefore, caution the preclear to "pick up his overt acts againstthings, too" while he's running it if he's only getting overt actsagainst him.
The only reason the process won It work is that the preclearisn't doing it, but only pretending to, or he doesn't understandit.
But all in all, we've a wonderful weapon here to straightenout a lot of lives. Use it with wild abandon and get the resultsin. It's good.
