At this point the train enters the mountain and tunnels its way up to Zugspitzeplatt station at an altitude of 2,600 metres.

Here, be entertained by the alpine hustle and bustle, and marvel at the acrobatic stunts of the free skiers and snowboarders in Terrain Park Zugspitze. Later, catch the cable car to the summit of the Zugspitze mountain, Germany’s highest peak. At an altitude of nearly 3,000 metres the views are quite stupendous. Day 7: Vienna - Begin 7 Night Danube River Cruise from Vienna to Nuremberg (B,D) After breakfast enjoy the beautiful Imperial city of Vienna. A particular attraction is the Christmas market in front of Schönbrunn Palace, which is one of the most traditional in Vienna. In the centre, there is a giant Christmas tree, often the location of special musical performances. To warm up, enjoy a hot drink and a snack. The rest of the day is at leisure – take time to stroll through the festively decorated heart of the city, or do some Christmas shopping. In the afternoon be transferred to the port for embarkation on the six night Danube river cruise. Enjoy time to appreciate the features of your cabin. Known as the Three Rivers City, it is overlooked by the Veste Oberhaus, a 13th-century hilltop fortress housing a city museum and observation tower. The old town below is known for its baroque architecture, including St. Stephen’s Cathedral, featuring distinctive onion-domed towers and an organ with 17,974 pipes. Enjoy free time at leisure in the city see the Town Hall, St Peter’s Cathedral and the Stone Bridge, which has spanned the Danube since the 12th century, at the same time visit the streets and squares in Regensburg. Enjoy this romantic time with a different Christmas market: the Regensburg’s traditional Christmas Market, only a short walk to Lucreziamarkt, where artists and craftsmen set up stalls laden with wonderful handmade wares, the courtyard of Thurn & Taxis Palace there is the romantic Christmas Market and the Advent Market in the Spitalgarten on the other side of the Danube. Day 12: Roth, Germany 1:00 to 1:30pm - Nuremberg (B,L,D) Your ship arrives in the Bavarian town of Roth for a quick stop. Here you have the choice to take an optional tour of the city (not included), then rejoin the ship later or relax on board while the ship sails on to Nuremberg. Dock in Nuremberg in the late afternoon and enjoy free time in the northern Bavarian city.


Day 13: Nuremberg, Germany – Disembark around 8:00am (B) This morning, enjoy your last breakfast onboard, before disembarking the ship and transferring to your Hotel in Nuremberg for the remainder of the morning at leisure. Nuremberg is distinguished by medieval architecture such as the fortifications and stone towers of its Altstadt (Old Town). At the northern edge of the Altstadt, surrounded by red-roofed buildings, stands Kaiserburg Castle. The Hauptmarkt (central square) contains the Schöner Brunnen, the gilded “beautiful fountain” with tiers of figures, and Frauenkirche, a 14th-century Gothic church.
