Mark Matheny was attacked by a female grizzly bear on a main trail. In less than half a minute, the grizzly charged and mauled Mark twice. Mark’s partner, Dr. Fred Bahnson, reacted immediately to Mark’s condition and treated his wounds. Fortunately Dr. Bahnson got Mark out of the woods and to the emergency room without further incident. If charged by a bear while walking or standing, stay upright or slightly lean backward to optimize the direction of the bear spray. Pull the spray-release ball for a short burst, or a continuous fog of spray toward the approaching bear. Continue until bear fl ees.

HOW TO ACTIVATE: Step 1: Pull downward on the orange shoulder strap cover to expose the spray-release ball.

Step 2: To engage the bear spray, pull the spray-release ball at desired increments or for continuous fog.
