Burden of disease profile

For the percentage of deaths by broad cause, deaths are classified into four groups namely: (i) injuries; (ii) non-communicable diseases; (iii) HIV and TB; and (iv) communicable diseases together with maternal perinatal and nutritional conditions. Data are given by gender and age group for the period 2010–2015. The second part of the graph shows the 10 leading single causes of death within each age group (both genders) for 2010–2015 combined.

West Rand District is located in the western part of Gauteng Province and is divided into four health sub-districts, namely Merafong City, Mogale City, Randfontein and Westonaria. Tshwane is situated in Gauteng Province and is divided into seven health sub-districts, named Tshwane Sub-district 1 to Tshwane Sub-district 7. For the percentage of deaths by broad cause, deaths are classified into four groups namely: (i) injuries; (ii) non-communicable diseases; (iii) HIV and TB; and (iv) communicable diseases together with maternal perinatal and nutritional conditions.
