SAP Knowledge Base Article Symptom When trying to delete a document in SOLAR01 / SOLAR02 transactions, the message "Document ... is locked and cannot be deleted" appears. Environment This issue happens at any support version of Solution Manager managing documents in Implementation area. Reproducing the Issue In transaction SOLAR01 / SOLAR02, select the document's line and press the delete button. The following message will show up. Cause The cause of this issue is the lock generated for the document. This lock can happen by two different ways. 1. If the documentation type of the document have a status schema assigned in which a lock is set for a specific status. When a document is under a status with lock attribute, it'll be locked for changes and this includes deletion. 2. If the document is under digital signature process. When a document is under digital signature strategy, it automatically get locked to avoid inconsistencies during the signature process. So as the other scenario, the document is locked for changes and this includes deletion. Resolution To be able to delete the document, you'll need to remove the lock. In case the document is in the middle of a signature process, you'll need to finish all the necessary signatures first.     Reproducing the Issue

    In transaction SOLAR01 / SOLAR02, select the document's line and press the delete button.

    The following message will show up.

    Cause

    The cause of this issue is the lock generated for the document. This lock can happen by two different ways.

    1. If the documentation type of the document have a status schema assigned in which a lock is set for a specific status.

    Whenadocumentisunderastatuswithlockattribute,it'llbelockedforchangesandthisincludesdeletion.

    2. If the document is under digital signature process.

    Whenadocumentisunderdigitalsignaturestrategy,itautomaticallygetlockedtoavoidinconsistenciesduringthesignatureprocess.Soastheother scenario, the document is locked for changes and this includes deletion.

    Resolution

  • 1. Select the document and press the "Attributes" button.

    2. Press the "unlock" button at the bottom of the screen.

    3. Change the status of the document to a status that will not lock the document nor start a digital signature process. And press the "save and close" button.

    4. Afterwards, just select the document and press the "delete" button.

    The document should be deleted.
