The first is our Public Meeting for our Institutional Master Plan scheduled for Thursday, September 17th at 6:30 pm in the Hurvitz Board Room, and the second is the Fall Festival on Hope Street on Sunday, September 20th from 12–5 pm.

The Miriam Hospital plans to submit its Institutional Master Plan in October 2015. In advance of that meeting, we invite you to attend our community forum to discuss plans for the main campus which have remained unchanged. We will need to create single patient hospital rooms in Building A on the main campus. Our goal is to accomplish this in the next five years, however we are not in the design phase of this work nor have we developed the funding for the project. Our hope is that by 2020 we will have the ability to begin that work. Please come to the meeting to discuss our Master Plan. Kindly RSVP by calling Monica Anderson at The Neighborhood Hotline at (401)793-4040 no later than September 15th to reserve your seats.Come early as we will be serving refreshments.

The Miriam Hospital Fall Festival on Hope Street will be held in collaboration with the Hope Street Merchants Association. Scheduled for Sunday, September 20th, this event is a perfect way to spend the first day of autumn with your family. The event will be held on Hope Street between Fifth Street and Rochambeau with these streets closed in advance of, and during the event. Bring your family and friends to enjoy live entertainment, food and shopping. Take part in the Scavenger Hunt and you could WIN a Prize Pack of Gift Certificates to Hope Street. A MAJOR TEACHING HOSPITAL FOR BROWN MEDICAL SCHOOL

August 31, 2015

Dear Neighbors,

To your right is a one-page survey, which all of our next-door neighbors are receiving. e goal of this survey is to get your OPINION on how we are doing in our eort to be a good neighbor.

e Miriam Hospital is committed to being a good neighbor and continues to work on building our communication with neighbors, bettering the community by sharing our resources, and applying a model of balance to conicts and neighborhood issues whether they arise internally or externally. We refer to these eorts as the 3 B’s; BUILD communication, BETTER the community andBALANCE concerns.

e attached survey is brief and will only take a few minutes of your time. We value your feedback and will use your comments to work on the areas where we need improvement. Your answers will also helpus plan for future initiatives with regard to the 3 B’s. We will choose at random two individuals who have completed the questionnaire to WIN a $100 gi certicate to the store, salon, or restaurant of their choice on Hope Street or North Main Street in the Summit Neighborhood.

To be eligible for the drawing, you must be a neighbor of e Miriam Hospital. Additionally, you mustbe 18 years of age and ll out all the CONTACT INFORMATION on the questionnaire. e survey can be detached, folded and mailed (postage paid), or it can be dropped o in the lobby of the main hospital building. All surveys must be completed by October 2nd to be entered to win.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at e Miriam Hospital by calling theNeighborhood Hotline at (401) 793-4040.

Sincerely,

Monica A.J. Anderson Director of Community Relations and Corporate Citizenship e Miriam Hospital A Lifespan Partner.

As the summer swelter begins to fade away, plans are heating up on Hope Street as we prepare for the Fall Festival. Be sure to save the date of Sunday, September 20th for an afternoon of food, entertainment, fitness and fun. A team of Hope Street Merchants and I have worked together to create a vibrant community festival that has something for everyone.

There will be all kinds of entertainment including live music and dance. Musical performances include (but are not limited to) Emiline Easton, Joe’s Backyard Band and singer, playwright and entertainer extraordinaire, Rose Weaver. To top it off, The Festival Ballet, the Eastern Medicine Singers, and a local dance group called “Part of the Oath” will delight the festival goers with one of a kind performances.

Interested in reviving your fitness routine? The Fall Festival will have everyone and everything you need to fortify the healthiest you this autumn. Take part in free adult and kids classes generously offered by the fitness pros at the Dwares JCC. The J-Fitness crew will take kids through a creative and entertaining session promoting fun in physical education. Adults can take an inspiring dynamic class by Lisa Mongeau which is sure to get heart rates beating and energy soaring.

Looking for something else? Go for a group fun run with Roisin McGettigan, take a free martial arts class or even climb the rock wall. Challenge yourself on the Boldrdash course developed for aspiring recreational athletes of all ages. Whatever your interests in the fitness arena, chances are you can try it on for size on September 20th.

As part of our efforts to give back to the community, we are asking everyone to participate in creating food access for all Rhode Islanders by participating in a food drive, or donating to Farm Fresh’s Fresh For All Fund. By bringing a food item to the Fall Festival we can make an impact against the issue of hunger and food access in Rhode Island. For more information about the food drive and how to donate to the food drive, please see the list of items needed below. To donate to the Fresh For All Fund, visit the Farm Fresh tent at the Festival.

Lastly, don’t miss the Fall Festival Scavenger Hunt or the opportunity to participate in the International Compassion Games. The Scavenger Hunt will lead you up and down Hope Street searching for clues to solve the word scramble puzzle for the hunt. The Games will give you a unique opportunity to perform an act of compassion either towards someone else, towards the earth, or towards yourself. To learn more about the Compassion Games visit www.compassiongames.org.

As usual there will be delicious food, sidewalk sales and plenty of other surprises. Gather your friends, family, and neighbors to celebrate the changing of the season at this year’s Fall Festival. For more information, go tothe Hope Street Merchants Association website at www.hopestreetprov.com or call The NeighborhoodHotline at (401) 793-4040.
