ABOuT THE PLAYwRIGHTKEN LUDWIG (Playwright) is an internationally acclaimed playwright whose many hits on Broadway, in London’s West End and throughout the world have made his name synonymous with modern comedy. He has won the Laurence Olivier Award, England’s highest theatre honor, as well as three Tony Award nominations and two Helen Hayes Awards. His work has been commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company and has been performed in at least thirty countries in over twenty languages. His musical Crazy For You ran for over four years on Broadway and in London. Lend Me a Tenor, originally produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and recently revived on Broadway, was called “one of the two great farces by a living writer” by The New York Times. Other plays and musicals include Moon Over Buffalo (Broadway & London’s Old Vic, starring Carol Burnett, Lynn Redgrave, Joan Collins & Frank Langella); Twentieth Century (premiered at The Signature Theatre; on Broadway, starring Alec Baldwin & Anne Heche); The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Broadway); Treasure Island (London, Theatre Royal, Haymarket; 2009 AATE Distinguished Play Award for Best Adaptation); Shakespeare in Hollywood (commissioned by The Royal Shakespeare Company, Helen Hayes Award as Best Play); Leading Ladies; Be My Baby; The Beaux’ Stratagem (adaptation with Thornton Wilder at the request of the Wilder Estate); The Three Musketeers (Bristol Old Vic); An American in Paris; The Fox on the Fairway; The Game’s Afoot. Shakespeare Festival, Pittsburgh Playhouse and American Ibsen Theatre. In 1987, the Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce awarded her the Distinguished Citizen Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. She and her husband, Robert Cacioppo, enjoy empty nesting with Matt at UCF and Julia at FSU.

JASON PARRISH* (Bellhop) is now in his eighth season as an ensemble member with Florida Rep, and serves as the company’s Associate Director. Jason has appeared in over seventeen Florida Rep

productions including The Big Bang, Noises Off, Greetings!, The Last Romance, King o’ the Moon, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries – now an annual event in Southwest Florida. His directing credits with Florida Rep include Tru, [title of show], The Shape of Things, this season’s upcoming production of The Fantasticks, as well as a number of productions for Florida Rep’s Children’s Theatre Series. His work with other theatres includes It Runs in the Family (Sanibel’s Strauss Theatre; Director), Forbidden Broadway (Prather Entertainment; Director), and appearances with Actors’ Playhouse (Miami), Riverside Theatre (Vero Beach), extensive work with Theatre by the Sea (Rhode Island), and a recurring role in the New York Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concert Series at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall. KATE yOUNG* (Julia) makes her first appearance with Florida Rep after a summer run as Berthe in Boeing-Boeing at the Mason Street Warehouse in Michigan. In February, she’ll be featured as Miss

Prism in Gulfshore Playhouse’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Other regional theatre favorites include Sister Aloysius in Doubt, Herodias in Salome, and Lady Britomart in Major Barbara with the Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre (PICT) where she is an Associate Artist. Other regional credits include Chicago Shakespeare, Milwaukee Shakespeare, Royal George, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Human Race Theatre, Light Opera Works, Pittsburgh Public Theatre and the Great Lakes Theatre Festival. This spring, Kate is looking forward to a return to ShawChicago for their production of three J.M. Barrie plays. Her performances have been recognized with Jefferson nominations and DayTony Awards as well as with Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Tribune Review citations. Her film and television credits include Houseguest, Roommates, Diabolique, Citizen Cohn, and What She Doesn’t Know. A native San Franciscan now living in Chicago, Kate trained in London at LAMDA, Brown University, the University of Pittsburgh, and New England Conservatory.

CHRIS CLAvELLI** (Director) is the Associate Artistic Director of Florida Repertory Theatre, and is a faculty member in The Summer Conservatory at The New York Academy of Dramatic Arts. He was honored with an Alan Schneider Directing Award nomination

through Theater Communications Group. He was a founding member and co-artistic director of The Neighborhood Theatre for Kids in Brooklyn. Directing credits: At Florida Rep: Sideman, Trying, Rounding Third, Alone Together, The Foreigner, The Glass Menagerie, The Santaland Diaries and The Lady with All the Answers. The Virginia Stage Company: Irma Vep, Vaudeville and Rough Crossing; Off Square Theatre: All in the Timing, Stones in His Pockets; Two River Theatre Company: House of Blue Leaves and 16 productions for The Depot Theatre, most recently The Drawer Boy starring John Christopher Jones. Other theatres: Theatre South Carolina, the New York Fringe Festival, Actors Theatre of Louisville, (Solo Mio), the Southwest Florida Symphony, Symphony Space, York Theatre, 78th Street Theatre, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Chenango River Theatre, Riverside Theatre, Neighborhood Theatre for Kids, and the famed Actors Studio. As an actor he has worked here at Florida Rep in 14 productions and all over the country. In 2012 he was named Florida Weekly’s Best Actor of the Year, and has been the recipient of both the Barrymore Award (Philadelphia) and the South Florida Carbonell for best actor. His one-man play, A Little More Than You Wanted to Spend recently played Theatre South Carolina and is slated for a New York production.

JUSTIN P. COWAN (Musical Supervisor) is originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, Justin is happy to be helping out the Florida Repertory Theatre with yet another exciting project. Justin studied both Choral and Orchestral Conducting at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and has served as Music Director for over 36 productions within the last 7 years. Some of Justin’s favorite Conducting/Music Directing credits include: West Side Story, Into The Woods, The Secret Garden, Bat Boy: The Musical, The Wizard Of Oz, and Songs For A New World. JIM HUNTER*** (Set Designer) is happy to return to Florida Rep this season! Jim’s recent Florida Rep set designes include Rumors, August: Osage County and Boeing-Boeing. His scenic and lighting designs have been seen at theatres such as LaMama in NYC, Phoenix Theatre, Arkansas Rep, Charlotte Rep, Playhouse on the Square, Drury Lane

Theatre, The Lost Colony, Theatre Virginia, the World Stage Exposition in Toronto, Heritage Rep, The Flat Rock Playhouse, the Veggie Tales Live! National Tour, Wall Street Danceworks, and others. Jim is a member of the national designers union, United Scenic Artist, Local 829 in scene and lighting design. He serves as the Chair and Artistic Director for the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of South Carolina. Recent national educational activities include serving as a member on the Commission for Accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Theatre and as a mentor for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education’s Leadership Institute.

ROBERTA mALCOLm (Costume Designer) is pleased to be returning for her ninth season at the Florida Rep after 25 years traveling the country as a costumer/designer for everyone from community theatre performers to Florence Henderson, John Ritter, LeVar Burton, Tony Bennett, Patti LaBelle, Margaret O’Brien, Dean Jones, and Cloris Leachman. Favorite productions include: Gaslight, Boeing-Boeing, You Can’t Take it With You, My Three Angels, Lucky Stiff, Florida Follies starring Florence Henderson, Too Big to be a Waitress, Show Boat (Dean Jones and Cloris Leachman national tour), Little Shop of Horrors, Curly McDimple starring Margaret O’Brien, Blithe Spirit, Annie Get Your Gun, A Funny Thing…Forum, Death of a Salesman, and Cinderelle – a Rock Fairy Tale. Thanks to Sean, Becca, John, Bob – family always; and to the Florida Rep and its board for the opportunity to showcase the best theatre around.

Amy L. mASSARI* (Production Stage Manager) is pleased to be returning for her fourth season as Florida Rep’s resident stage manager. Amy has been a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association for the past 22 years, working in some of the country’s finest regional theatres: the Alley Theatre (Houston, TX), the Dallas Theatre Center (Dallas, TX), Stage-West (Springfield, MA), The Pioneer Memorial (Salt Lake City, UT) and the Colorado Shakespeare Festival (Boulder, CO). Among her favorite Florida Rep Productions are: August: Osage County, Sylvia, and God of Carnage. Amy has been happily married to her husband of sixteen years, Michael. KATE SMITH (Sound Designer) is happy to return for her fourth season at Florida Rep. She is a native of Pennsylvania and a graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). She is excited to work as the lighting & sound designer in Florida Rep’s Studio for her fourth season. She served as the Sound and Lighting Designer for FL Rep’s production of King O’ the Moon. Lighting design credits include; Picnic (2009 KC/ACTF Region II Barbizon Award in Lighting Design for IUP) It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, The Santaland Diaries and The Lady With All the Answers for Florida Rep’s Studio, and Evil Dead the Musical for Keystone Rep. Sound Design credits include Sylvia, August Osage County, Trying and You Can’t Take It With You. Kate has also worked for Brevard Music Center, NC as Master Electrician, as the light board operator at Flat Rock Playhouse, NC. Two summers ago, she worked as the Lighting Designer for IUP’s Keystone Rep and part of the staff for the Footlight Players.

GRACE vARLAND (Assistant Stage Manager) was born and raised in Spring Arbor, Michigan. She recently received her bachelors at Belhaven University, where she stage managed for directors John Maxwell and McNair Wilson. Stage appearances include Murder in the Cathedral, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Sister Calling My Name. Grace has also spent the last two summers with Horn in the West, the nation’s longest running (and best) outdoor drama. When not in rehearsal, Grace enjoys dancing, coffee houses, climbing trees, and plenty of reading time. She loves what she does, loves her parents and three brothers, and loves The Lord, whom she calls ‘Teacher’.

TODD O. WREN*** (Lighting Designer)is delighted to participate in Florida Rep’s continued growth. A special thanks goes to you, the audience, for your support. Todd’s theatrical credits include: Good Speed Musicals, Arkansas Repertory, Barter Theatre, Tennessee Repertory, John F.
